Leonard Howdeshell

Leonard Howdeshell, 82, of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed away Monday, December 29, 2014. He was born January 23, 1932 in Muskogee, Oklahoma to Clarence and Opal Howdeshell. Leonard graduated from Muskogee Central High School with the class of 1950. Leonard married the love of his life, Jewel “Darlene” Eller on December 8, 1951. They shared 63 years of marriage together. Leonard had been part of the South East Muskogee community since the 1960’s. He worked as a farmer and dairyman for many years. Later in his life, Leonard worked for RWD District #5 until his retirement in 1997. Leonard loved being a part of RWD District #5. He was a member of Warner First Baptist Church and loved his Sunday School Class dearly. Leonard also loved hunting, bowling, roping, and most importantly, Leonard loved spending time with his family and friends. Leonard will be always be remembered as a devoted father, husband, and grandfather. The family request that memorials to be made out to Warner First Baptist Church Building Fund. He is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Opal Howdeshell; and sister-in-law, Lenora Howdeshell. Leonard is survived by his wife, Darlene Howdeshell; daughters, Cindy Rich of Collinsville, OK, Denise and Jerry Stroud of Warner, OK; grandchildren, Kristi and Randy Guthrie of Checotah, OK, Shawn and Martha Hogner of Muskogee, OK, Patrick and Amanda Hewitt of Oklahoma City, OK, Jason Stroud, Julie , and Daniel Miller of Warner, OK; great grandchildren, Dale and Tiffany Guthrie, Beth Guthrie, Sarah and Ronnie Milligan all of Checotah, OK, Dawson Hogner of Muskogee, OK, Justin Stroud, Caleb Miller , Case Miller, and Caden Miller of Warner, OK, Hailey Hewitt and Beth Hewitt of Oklahoma City, OK; great-great grandchildren, Jaylynn Guthrie, Olivia Guthrie, and Wyatt Guthrie; brothers, Tommy Howdeshell of Wagoner, OK, Lindell and Olga Howdeshell of Jacksonville, AR; sister, Barbara and Jack Harrison of Muskogee, OK; many nieces, nephews, other family members, and many friends. The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 p.m., Sunday, January 4, 2015 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Services for Leonard will be 10:00 A.M., Monday, January 5, 2015 at Warner First Baptist with Rev. Bill Crow and Rev. Sam Dunn officiating. Interment will follow at Brushy Mountain Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tim Synar, Nick Reich, Roger Synar, Jerry Lowery, Charlie Reed, Brent Gorman, Brian Gorman, and James Spradlin. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the “David Class”, Wayne Mullen, and Ken Baird.
