Leonard O. Hull

Leonard Ollie Hull, 82, of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed away Monday, May 16, 2016. He was born on August 28, 1933 in Matoy, Oklahoma to Ollie H Hull and Magness Reaser Hull. Len graduated from the Oklahoma School for the Deaf in Sulphur, OK where he excelled in football, basketball, and track. He met his wife Wanda Lee Thompson at the school. They were married on December 15, 1956 at the First Baptist Church in Oklahoma City, OK by the late Rev. Leslie Gunn. They shared more than 59 years of life and marriage together. Len moved to Oklahoma City from Sulphur, which was his hometown, in 1956 upon his marriage to Wanda He retired in 1998 from the US Postal Service. In 1999, Wanda retired from Merrill Lynch and they moved to Muskogee to be near their family. Len was proud to be an Honorary member of the Oklahoma City Association of the Deaf, as well as a member of the Oklahoma Association of the Deaf, National Association of the Deaf, and the Tulsa Senior Citizens Association of the Deaf. Len will always be remembered as an exceptional Father, Husband, and Friend. His family was always first and he was loyal without reserve. If he was on your side, he was behind you without exception. He was good at everything he did, mostly being a Father and protector of his family. Len was always game until the end, never giving up the fight, never to complain or say “why me”. He enjoyed many hobbies; hunting, fishing, camping, sports, and helping his son and wife in their hobbies as well. Len loved all his animals and pets and was always willing to adopt or help any stray that came along. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ollie and Magness Hull; sisters, Juanita Hull; Mary Lou Goodrich, infant sister, Oma Jean Hull; brother, Quinton L Hull; nieces, Teresa Hull and Elaina Hull; brother in law, Don Burton; and his inlaws, Mull H and Jessie Fay Ragland Thompson. Len is survived by his wife, Wanda, of the home; son, Randy Hull and wife Helen of Muskogee, OK; sister, Zelia Faye Klunk and husband Pat of Panama City, FL; nieces and nephews, Susan and husband of San Diego, CA, Phil and family of Fresno, CA, Mitch and wife Ann and family of Sulphur, OK, Ricky and family of Dallas, TX, Mark and family of Panama City, FL, Tim and family of Panama City, FL, Karen and family of ME; along with Wanda’s family, which was his too, Barbara Gail Hayes and husband Willard and family, Carolyn Sue Burton and family, Mull Dean Thompson and wife Gail and family; other family members and many friends. A private family graveside service is planned for 3:00 p.m., Friday, May 20, 2016.
