Linda Kay Etchison

Linda Kay Etchison aka “Granny Linda”, 64, of Muskogee passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2011. She was born on September 8, 1946 to Kenneth Mearl Thatcher and Frances Imogene Thatcher. Linda was married to James Elliott Etchison in 1962 for a span of 20 years. She retired from Schrader Bridgeport after 23 years of service. She later worked at My Place BBQ East. Linda was passionate about spending time with her mother, kids, and grandkids. She was the very best daughter, mother, and grandmother we could’ve been blessed with. God knew what he was doing when he chose Linda to raise those 3 boys. He thought he would give her a break when he gave her Tammy. Granny loved to visit; she never met a stranger. If you talked to Granny you would know everything about her family by the end of the conversation. Granny started her days with her morning call to her dear friend Josie, then her daughter Tammy, and then going to her mother’s. Granny also loved putting together jigsaw puzzles, reading magazines, watching Lifetime, and Dancing With the Stars. She loved swimming during the summer months and shopping with her daughter Tammy. Granny loved life! You were always greeted with a smile. She was always on the go, even if it was to sneak out to the casino. Granny Linda will truly be missed. Linda was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth M. Thatcher. She is survived by her mother, Frances Thatcher of Muskogee; son, James “Tody” Etchison and wife Denise; son, Mark Allen Etchison and wife Sandia; son, Kevin Scott Etchison and wife Kellie; daughter, Tammy Renea Hughey and husband Bobby; all of Muskogee; grandchildren; Taylor Etchison, Dustin Etchison, Chelsey Etchison, Tiffany Hughey, Sarah Hughey, Lukas Etchison, Aubrey Etchison, and Brady Etchison; and one great grandson, Ace Romine Etchison, all of Muskogee; brother, Jimmy Thatcher and wife Debra of Muskogee; Aunt Geraldine and husband Jack Butler of Oklahoma City; Aunt Ruby Lewis of Muskogee; mother-in-law, Florence Etchison; niece, Valerie Granade and husband David of Nebraska; great nieces and nephews, Haley, Joe, Dylan, and Ansley of Nebraska; Special friends, Georgia Gardner, Josie Craft, and George and Mavis Casarravia. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 22, 2011 at Timothy Baptist Church in Muskogee with Brother Kelly Payne officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Bill Downing, Rick Carbone, Tommy Barnett, Don Scott, Todd Brown, and Rodney Palmer. Honorary pallbearers will be J.R. Trent, George Casarravia, Mark Howe, and Wayne Bowen.
