Lois Murr

With her family by her bedside, the angels carried our precious “Mema” to Heaven on Monday, December 8, 2014. Lois Murr is now rejoicing with Jesus and her Heavenly family now, without weakness or pain. Even though we know she is happy, and she is where she wants to be, we will miss her greatly and always will until we meet her again. Lois Murr was born July 30, 1921 in Carnegie, Oklahoma to Milton and Bessie Moore. She graduated from Kingston High School in Kingston, Oklahoma. Lois married Bob Murr on July 4, 1940 under a big oak tree. They moved to Oktaha, Oklahoma in 1948 where they farmed and had a dairy. They were named Farm Family of the Year for Muskogee County in 1986. Lois was very active in the Muskogee Women’s Farm Bureau and Home Extension Club. She was also very active in her church where she was a Sunday School teacher and held various positions in Women’s Auxiliary. At the present time, she was a member of Grandview Tabernacle. Lois loved to read her Bible, which was her constant companion, and she read it all the way through many times. She relied on her favorite scripture, Philippians 4:6-7, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in prayer and thanksgiving, let your requests be known to God, and the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Lois will always be remembered as a great prayer warrior and was always in prayer for her family and friends, even when she was so weak and could hardly walk. It seemed that when she began to pray, she just kept getting stronger with every word of praise. Even in her last hours, she was praising the Lord. Lois was a wonderful mentor to her children, grandchildren, and to anyone who would listen to her testimony of her relationship with Christ. Lois was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bob; sons, Carl Joe Murr and Arthur Monroe Murr; brothers, Jack Moore, Leroy Moore, and Raymond Moore. She is survived by her children, Thelma (John) Clements of Evanston, WY, Bobby (Barbara) Murr of Maumelle, AR, JoAn (Larry) Crabtree of Oktaha, OK, Dale (Debbie) Murr of Ft Worth, TX; sisters, Katherine Frazier of Leon, OK, Ruth Horton of Tulsa, OK, Dorothy Murr of Oktaha, OK, Cora Lee Kammerdiener of Longview, TX, and Virginia Roper of Burneyville, OK; brother, David Moore of Tulsa, OK; 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandsons; 2 step grandsons; 2 step great granddaughters; other family members and friends. The family will receive friends from 5:30-7:30 p.m., Thursday, December 11, 2014 at Cornerstone Funeral Home. Funeral services honoring Lois’s life will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 12, 2014 at Grandview Tabernacle, 405 E Peak Blvd, Muskogee, Oklahoma with Pastor Bobby Wingo officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhill Cemetery with Chris Licatovich, Carl Murr, Stephen Crabtree, Raymond Murr, David Murr, and Orlando Garcia serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Wendell Milne Jr, Tony Nichols, Jim Lawson, Robert Lawson, Clebourne Seward, Freddie Kiser, and Dick Sheffield. Ten great grandsons serving as junior honorary pallbearers, who are very special to her, Daniel Garcia, Dayne Rameriz, Cole Rameriz, Patrick Murr, Evan Murr, Brayden Martin, Mason Martin, Nathan Murr, Joshua Murr, and Levi Murr.
