Makayla I. Leach

Makayla Irene Leach of Muskogee, Oklahoma earned her Heavenly wings on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at the age of 29. Born on March 19, 1995, in Fayetteville, Arkansas, she was the beloved daughter of Jason Baldridge and Trina Kester. Makayla was a dedicated student and a passionate advocate for education. She graduated from high school with honors and furthered her academic journey to earn a bachelor's degree in 2021. Her quest for knowledge did not stop there, as she recently celebrated the achievement of obtaining her master's degree in reading in 2025, an accomplishment that filled her with immense pride. She was sure to remind her family she was the first in their family with a masters degree. Makayla's legacy extends beyond her academic accomplishments. She was known for her kindness, intelligence, and unwavering support for those around her. Her warm smile and generous spirit touched the lives of many, leaving an indelible mark on her community. Her greatest joy and biggest accomplishment in life was her daughter, Adaly. Watching Adaly play sports brought Makayla immense happiness, and she never missed a game, cherishing every moment on the sidelines. Makayla was a devoted 3rd grade teacher at Woodall School, where she was affectionately adored by her students. She referred to them as her "babies" and took great pride in nurturing their young minds. Beyond the classroom, Makayla enjoyed coaching and was an active member of the power lifting team, where her competitive spirit shone brightly. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Fred Hill; great-grandparents, Junior Kester, Reba Kester, Joe Sellers, Bill Baldridge, Pauline Baldrige, and Reba Thomas; and the sweet guy that put a smile on her face and love in her heart, Timothy Warmack. Makayla is survived by her daughter, Adaly Marie Leach of Muskogee; mother, Trina Davis and husband Clint of Checotah; father, Jason Baldridge and wife Christy Baldridge of Stilwell; siblings, Haley Gritts and husband Kasey and their son Kooper of Checotah, Tyler Baldridge and wife Shaelynn of Stilwell, Cash Davis of Checotah; bonus siblings, Kelsey, Allison, and Caleb Fourkiller, all of Stilwell; maternal grandparents, Eugene and Susan Kester of Stilwell, Billy T. Davis and Shirley Davis; paternal grandparent, Patsy Dixon of Muskogee; great-grandmother, Marie Sellers of Stilwell; uncles, Jr. Kester and wife Sarah and their sons, Trey and Sawyer Kester, all of Stilwell, Leroy Wallace and wife Shelby and their children, Gage and Skye, of Apache Junction, Arizona; along with soon to be born niece and nephew. She is also survived by numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, and many other extended family members and many lifetime friends. The “Fort” family who we all know came before everyone and Makayla’s “other mother”, Tina Hammer. The family will receive friends from 6-8PM, Thursday, February 6, 2025 at Cornerstone Funeral Home. Makayla’s life will be celebrated at 10AM, Friday, February 7, 2025 at Muskogee First Assembly of God with Mr. Jared Callahan officiating. Interment will follow at Stilwell City Cemetery with Albert McCutchen, “Coach” Billy Keys, John Hammer, Dalton Durossette, Trent Rose, and Garrett Yochum serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Tyler Baldridge, Cash Davis, Caleb Fourkiller, Kasey Gritts, Jr. Kester, and Eli Baldridge.
