Marc Philo Harris

Marc Philo Harris, 72, a lifetime resident of Muskogee, Oklahoma entered his eternal Heavenly home on Friday, May 5, 2023. He was born August 3, 1950 to Cecil Philo and Shirley Ruth (Hughes) Harris. He attended public school and graduated from Warner High School in 1968. Marc was very proud of his Cherokee heritage having been born a direct descendant of Cherokee Mother Nancy Ward as well as being a great nephew of Colonel Johnson Harris who served as Chief of Cherokees from 1891 to 1895. Marc served as a member of the National Guard for Troop 145th Armored Calvary. In his early childhood, he worked with his dad on the farm and then went on to work in construction, sales, and later retired as a security guard for Muskogee Regional Medical Center. Marc married Shirley Maxine Cooper in 1992. They shared more than 27 years of marriage and memories when she passed in September of 2019. Marc and Shirley were faithful members of Keefeton Free Will Baptist Church where they regularly attended and served. Marc loved his guns, watching science and history TV, NASCAR and boxing. He loved to make people laugh and was known to be a prankster; he thought that was his calling, “Just like Dad.” He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Shirley Harris; wife, Shirley Harris; sister, Dana Harris; step-daughter, Sheryl Beckham and husband Terry; granddaughter, Allison Dow; brothers-in-law, John E Cooper and wife Estelle, Charles Cooper and wife Margie; and sister-in-law, Edna Faye Harris and husband Lucky, and Kathie Cooper. Marc is survived by his son, Jeremy Harris and wife Kelley, and grandsons, Jacob and Dylan Harris; sister, Jill Crawford and husband David; stepson, Mark Forrest and wife Susan; grandchildren, Joshua Forrest and wife Chelsie, Natalie Delmedico and husband Dane, Alex Dow, Jennifer Boss and husband Randy; great-grandchildren, Emma Forrest, Ethan Forrest, Ella Forrest, Liam Boss, Rhett Delmedico, Alizabeth Gilbertson and her grandparents Norman and Julie Gilbertson; nephews, Kyle Crawford and Ben Crawford; brother-in-law, Frank Cooper; dear friends, Robert and Lezley Francis; along with other family members and friends who will miss him dearly. Marc’s life will be celebrated at 10AM, Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at Keefeton Free Will Baptist Church with Pastor Danny Barks officiating.
