Margaret L. Yarbrough

Our dear mother, Margaret Louise Yarbrough, of Oktaha, Oklahoma went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at the age of 83. Margaret accepted Christ on February 24, 1998 and was baptized April 5, 1998. She was a member of Southeast Baptist Church in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Born in Muskogee on August 9, 1941. Her parents were Agnes Margaret Thompson and Charles Harman Murrie. Her parents owned Okay Drug Store. This is where she met her husband, Glenn Wayne Yarbrough when he came in to buy shoe polish. They were married on June 7, 1962. Margaret was preceded in death by her mother, Agnes Margaret Murrie, passed on November 4, 1964; her father, Charles Harman Murrie, passed on October 15, 1968; her husband, Glenn Wayne Yarbrough passed, on November 25, 2002; her half-brother, William “Billy” Satterfield, passed on February 20, 2024; and her nephew, Ryan Satterfield, passed on November 24, 2011. She is survived by her children, Virginia “Ginny” Bemo of Muskogee, David Yarbrough (Gayle) of Muskogee, and Glenna “Soozie” Standridge (John) of Oktaha; grandchildren, Clint Bryant (Jenna) of Tecumseh, Lacy Rosson (John) of Webbers Falls, Alisha Bemo of Fayetteville, Nathan Yabrough (Jenny) of Oktaha, Blake Yarbrough (Kathryn) of Muskogee, Joshua Standridge (Kacie) of Ft. Gibson, Cheyenne Jackson (Christopher) of Haworth, and Lucas Standridge (Karsyn) of Oktaha; 19 great-grandchildren; sister, Nancy Rivard (Ed) of Muskogee; sister-in-law, Brenda Satterfield of Muskogee; and brother-in-law, Jerry Yarbrough; along with many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. Margaret started working at twelve years old babysitting. She had many jobs through the years and didn’t stop until she was seventy-two years old when she retired after twenty-three years of managing Shady Hollow Apartments and Sullivan Properties. After her retirement, she moved to Oktaha, Oklahoma. Some of the things she enjoyed was going on long drives with her husband to see fall foliage, family gatherings at Spaniard Creek, shopping with her sister, chatting with her girlfriends on the phone, watching David preach online, and hugging her family anytime she had the opportunity to. Margaret was very proud to be a member of MCPAA (Muskogee Citizens Police Academy Association), Extra Eyes for twenty-one years beginning in 2004, and helping at Kids Space. She was the treasurer for MCPAA for fifteen out of her twenty-one years of volunteering. Even when she could no longer physically do these things, she continued to be a member until 2025. She was incredibly proud of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She went by many names… Sweet Momma, Mom, Momasan, Memaw, Grandma, Memaw Punkin, Memo, Sister, and Aunt Margaret. We all love her…TO THE MOON AND BACK. Margaret’s life will be celebrated at 10AM, Thursday, July 3, 2025 at Ash Street Baptist Church with Pastor David Yarbrough officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhill Cemetery with Clint Bryant, Nathan Yarbrough, Joshua Standridge, Blake Yarbrough, Lucas Standridge, and John Rosson serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Shannon Brewer, Larry Yarbrough, Lanny Yarbrough, Gary Yarbrough, Jeff Yarbrough, and Christopher Jackson. The family would like to express a very special “Thank You” to Traditions Home Health in Checotah, ACG Hospice in Muskogee, and Pleasant Valley Health Care Center in Muskogee.
