Marian L. Orourke

Marian Lee Dum O’Rourke was born on December 19, 1954, to Jim Dum Sr. and Lois Jean (Howard) Dum. She peacefully went to be with the Lord on March 6, 2026. Marian’s greatest joy in life was her family. She is lovingly survived by her daughter, Nichole Bowling, and son-in-law Chris Bowling; her honorary daughter, Elizabeth Svoboda; her cherished grandchildren, Ethan O’Rourke and Liam Bowling; and her honorary granddaughter, Lindsey Mayes. She is also survived by her brother Jim Dum Jr. and sister-in-law Jo Dum, and her sister Cyndy Clark. She was a proud and loving aunt to many nieces and nephews: Emily Ledgerwood (Brian), Caitlyn Pepperone (Chris), Trey Clark (Morgan), Jimmy Dum III (H-Jae), Matt VonDumm (Meme), and Theison Clark. She is also survived by many great-nieces and great-nephews whom she lovingly cherished. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim Dum Sr. and Lois Jean Dum; her son Jim R. O’Rourke; her beloved grandson Ben Bowling; her nephew John Dum; and her sister-in-law Mary Dum. Marian was also blessed with many lifelong friends who became family to her, including Loretta Gonzales, Renee’ Buckley, Julie Rowland, Darla Ryan, Mary Jo Posey, Tina Bowling, and Sandy Wood. Teaching was not just Marian’s career—it was her calling and her passion. She spent over 35 years teaching four-year-olds in both public and private schools, most of those years at Muskogee ECC. Throughout her career she helped shape the lives of more than 600 children. Marian believed deeply that every child was special, and she made it her mission to ensure each one knew how loved and important they were. In the final four years of her career at St. Joseph’s, she experienced one of her greatest joys—teaching one of her own grandchildren. Marian lived life fully and with a joyful spirit. No matter the adventure, she embraced it with enthusiasm and heart. Her mother often said, “Marian was the fun one,” and anyone who knew her would agree. Her kindness, laughter, and love touched countless lives. Even in her final moments, her faith and love for others were evident. Her last message was, “Pray for me, as I will be praying for you.” She will be deeply missed, but the love she shared will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her. A Rosary will be held at 9:30 a.m., followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 14, at St. Joseph Catholic Church and Parish Hall in Muskogee, Oklahoma.
