Marla G. Salts

Marla Gaye Salts, 73, of Warner, Oklahoma passed away Tuesday, August 22, 2023 with her loving family at her side. She was born November 20, 1949 in Coweta, Oklahoma to Owen Scott and Mozelle Stephens. She attended public school and graduated from Muskogee Central High School. Marla married Olen Ray Salts on March 23, 1971 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. They shared many happy years of life, marriage and memories together. She went to work at Muskogee Regional Medical Center as a PBX operator and then a nurse. She retired after many years of service. She then decided to become a bus driver for Muskogee Public Schools and retired a second time. In 1973 Marla began attending United Pentecostal Church in Muskogee where she faithfully served for many years. She loved being around her family, her church family and many friends she made throughout her life. She will be dearly missed. She was preceded in death by parents, Owen and Mozelle Stephens; husband, Olen Ray Salts; granddaughter, April Christine Bennett; and her daughter, Marsha Lynn Neville. Marla is survived by her daughter, Christy Bennett and companion Kevin Thornbrugh of Warner; son, Steven Salts of Muskogee; her twin sister, Mona Watson and husband William of Muskogee; grandchildren, Larry Bennett and wife Elysha of Tulsa, Dj Neville and wife Kaylie of Broken Arrow, Casey Neville of Tulsa; great-grandchildren, Chenoa Bennett, Dani and Davi Neville, Kayla Watts and husband Justin, Vahn Bennett, and Hunter Watts; brothers-in-law, Coy Salts and wife Estie of Guy, Arkansas, Glen Salts of Tacoma, Arizona, Charlie Salts and wife Eulala of Cooley, Arizona; sisters-in-law, Rosetta Hughes of Van Buren, Arkansas, and Peggy Salts of Eugene, Oregon; niece, Angie Rush and husband Jason and Aubry of Muskogee, Oklahoma; along with numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins, family members and friends. A celebration of Marla’s life will be 10:30am, Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at United Pentecostal Church with Rev. Mike Hart officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Gibson National Cemetery with Chris Watson, Joshua Cowan, Justin Watts, Jeremy Hart, Jason Rush and Tommy Hart serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Kevin Thornbrugh, Dj Neville, Casey Neville, Larry Bennett and Sam O’hara.
