Marlene Burress

Rhonda Marlene (Eubanks) Burress was born June 24, 1961 to Estel (Peck) and Louise (Staton) Eubanks. Marlene grew up in Fort Gibson and graduated in 1979. On June 30, 1979, she married the love of her life, Tony Wade Burress. They shared more than 40 years of life and marriage together and had two children. She taught school for 28 years, 27 of those at Wainwright. She loved all of her students like they were her own kids. Marlene loved her school and school family so much. She attended Keefeton Free Will Baptist Church where she faithfully served and was deeply involved in many different activities. One very dear and special event to her heart was the yearly mission trip where she enjoyed cooking and working with all involved. Marlene and Tony always looked forward to the annual motorcycle ride to Poplar Bluff, Missouri with Brother Danny and Sister Sandra to the Barks family reunion. She was preceded in death by her dad; father-in-law, Billie Burress; and stepson, David Burress. Marlene is survived by her husband, Tony, of the home; children, Tisha Burress of Keefeton, Tyeler and wife Rebekah of Keefeton; granddaughters, who were the light of her world, Miriam and Naomi; her mother, Louise of Ft. Gibson; mother-in-law, Ula Burress of Keefeton; brother, Hugh Eubanks and wife Cherie of Elm Grove; brother-in-law, Rod Burress and wife Trena of Elm Grove; Aunt Geneva and husband John Eaton of Muskogee; her partner in crime, Felicia Eller; very special friend, Patty Henderson, along with many other family members and friends who were all dear to her. “A very special Thank you to Lisa Walker and Debbie Rowan, for being there ready for anything, from shopping, going out to eat, or road trips; whatever I came up with.” The family will greet friends from 2-4PM, Sunday, March 1, 2020 at Cornerstone Funeral Home. Funeral services celebrating Marlene’s life will be 2PM, Monday, March 2, 2020 at Keefeton Free Will Baptist Church in Keefeton, Oklahoma with Pastor Danny Barks officiating. Interment will follow at Agnew Cemetery with Rod Burress, Tyeler Burress, Hugh Eubanks, Cade Brownell, Randy Burress, and Ryan Burress serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be all present and past faculty members of Wainwright Public School, Olen Rowan, Lance Walker, Robby Henderson, John Eaton, Speck Plunkett, Jeff Eller, and Herb Allison.
