Mary Ann Washington

Mary Ann Cramp Washington, 67, of Muskogee, Oklahoma was born October 31, 1955 in Compton, California, the daughter of Robert F. Cramp and Helen Juanita Kelly Cramp. She attended Sequoyah Elementary School, Alice Robertson Jr High School and Muskogee High School, graduating in 1973. Mary was employed at TG&Y, Zapata Industries, Inc. and for a short time at the Oktaha children’s after school program. It was while she was employed at Zapata Industries that she met and married the love of her life, Joe Washington Jr. They met in October and were married on November 22, 1974. In their 48 years of marriage, they were blessed with four children and one grandson. Mary was a very family-oriented person who enjoyed spending time at home with her children and grandson or attending family functions where she enjoyed the company of her in-laws and her nieces and nephews. Mary was happiest at being a homemaker as she made a loving living environment for her husband, children and grandson. She had a variety of interests and took pride in her collections of owls and religious crosses which she displayed in her living room. Mary also loved music, country and western, rock oldies and spiritual music. Her favorite rock group was Journey. Whenever their music came on the radio, the volume was turned up and she would say, “There’s my Journey”. Mary was called home on Monday morning, December 19, 2022 at 10:10AM, by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Mary did not recover from surgery after a 2-week stay in the hospital. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mandy Jo Washington; niece, Jammie Lynn Beth Hobbs; her mother, Helen Juanita Kelly Cramp; and her father, Robert F. Cramp. Mary is survived by husband, Joe Washington Jr; her son, John T. Washington; daughters, Katie L. Washington and Laura L. Washington; her grandson, Hayden J. Washington, all of the home; brother, Robert Cramp of Montpelier, OH; sister, Susie Kratzman of Angola, IN; sisters-in-law, JoLynn Smith of Lahoma, OK and Genell Perez of Casselberry, FL; cousins, Helen Ann Blunt of Broken Arrow, OK and Phillip Kelly of Newton, KS; special niece and nephew, Birdie Deann Washington Pingleton and William J. Washington, both of Muskogee, OK; nieces, Tisha Sue Gable of Coweta, OK, Jill Tietz and husband John of Lahoma, OK, Lea Ann Malchaski of OKC, OK, Maggie Fulton and husband Billy of Oktaha, OK, Candise Marie Hake of Okmulgee, OK, Tasha Byrd of Muskogee; nephews, Jay Smith of Enid, OK, Tim Smith of Lahoma, OK, and Dennis Dobson Jr. and wife Melissa of Broken Bow, OK; and many loving friends. Semper Fi Mary Ann Washington, till we meet again! A memorial service celebrating Mary’s life will be 2PM, Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Norman Daniels officiating.
