Minnie "Rita" L. Lane

Rita Lane, 74, of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed away Monday, October 15, 2012 in Tulsa. She was born January 16, 1938 in Hobart, Oklahoma to Nelvin Jarnagin and Lucille Dixon Jarnagin. She grew up and attended school in Western Oklahoma and Texas. She met and later married the love of her life, Walter Lane, on December 31, 1954 in Texas. They celebrated over 51 years of marriage. They raised five children together and traveled all over the world while Walter was enlisted in the United States Air Force. They were stationed in Oklahoma, Japan, New Mexico, and Texas. Upon Walter’s departure from the United States Air Force in 1964, they moved to Redwood City, California. While living in California, Rita and Walter opened their home to Kevin Haynes, who later followed and rejoined the family when they moved from California to Oklahoma. In 1978, the family moved to Porter, Oklahoma when Walter began working for American Airlines. In 1979, Rita began working for Corning Glass on the assembly line. She later worked in the nursery at Lifepoint Church for several years. Rita enjoyed being a mom to her children, and she loved her grandkids and great grandkids. She liked to do crafts, quilting, crocheting, cooking, embroidering, and gardening. She was especially remembered by her family for her enchiladas and homemade biscuits and gravy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; an infant daughter, Teresa; her parents, Nelvin and Lucille Jarnagin; great granddaughter, Addyson Larivieve; sister-in-law, Barbara Jarnagin, and brother-in-law, James Turney. Rita is survived by her sons, Mike Lane of Porter, Doug Lane and wife Myrna of Muskogee, Gordon Lane and wife Loretta of Salina, OK., Terry Lane and wife Connie of Muskogee; her daughter, Gaile Sisson and husband Raymond of Claremore, OK.; special family members, Kevin and June Haynes of Ft. Gibson, OK.; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-six great grandchildren; brothers, Eugene Jarnagin and wife Della of Texas, Gary Jarnagin and wife Louise of Carnegie, OK.; sisters, Shirley Pamplin and husband Charles of Texas, Glenda Larman and husband Jerry of Asher, OK.; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
