Nelda Fulton

Nelda Gerlene Boyer Fulton was born July 4, 1932 to Clyde F. and Ilena Lea Wilson Boyer near Miles in Tom Green County, Texas and passed from this life on January 13, 2024. In March of 1940, a house fire destroyed the family home and took the lives of Ilena and Nelda’s sister. Clyde then married Audrey Wingert who became Nelda’s “Mama.” During Nelda’s teen years, the Boyer family moved to New Mexico near Tatum, where Nelda met the love of her life, Marlin E. Fulton. They were married September 24, 1949, and remained happily so until his death on October 4, 2011. In the fall of 1952, the Fulton family moved to Oklahoma near Keefeton. There they built a successful dairy and beef cattle farm. Nelda always helped with the dairy and other farm work as well as doing housework. She enjoyed going to church, checking the cows in her “mule”, crocheting, other crafts, and turkey hunting with Marlin. Nelda was preceded in death by her husband, Marlin; her parents, Clyde, Ilena, and Audrey; her sister, Joy Lynn Boyer; baby brother; brother and sister-in-law, David and LaNell Boyer; brother-in-law, W. E. “Peg” Fulton; and son-in-law, Lee Walkup. She is survived by daughters, Janice (Mike) Newton and Clara (Dean) Mills; son, Jimmy (Penny) Fulton; six grandchildren, Candy (Billy) Brown, Marla Walkup, Joy (Chad) Cole, Billy (Maggie) Fulton, Matthew (Rebecca) Walkup and Keri Mills; eleven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson; siblings, Dale (Patsy) Boyer, Jack (Marion) Boyer, Sherron (Sid) Hunnicutt, Jody (Debbie) Boyer and Mona (David) Price; sister-in-law, Patsy Fulton; former daughter-in-law, Debbie (Ken) Catlett; and numerous bonus grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services celebrating Nelda’s life will be at 11AM, Thursday, January 18, 2024, at Keefeton Trinity Baptist Church with Brother Dean Haley and Mr. Jack Boyer officiating. Interment will follow at Agnew Cemetery with Matthew Walkup, Jake Salmon, Chad Cole, Billy Fulton, Clinton Hill, and Rudy Boyer serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be John Sample, Bob Sample, Jimmy Roberts, Jeremy Roberts, Rudy Fulton, and Kevin Hutson. The family extends heartfelt thanks to all the staff at Country Gardens and Good Shepherd Hospice for their care of Nelda and consideration for the family.
