Nicolai Dean Philemonof

Nicolai Dean Philemonof, 56, passed from this life at his home in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on May 9, 2026. Nick was born on September 5, 1969, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, to Shirley (Anderson) Ross. He attended Tahlequah High School and later graduated from Sequoyah High School in 1988. Nick was a proud Cherokee fire dancer for several years with the Cherokee Nation and later retired from a long career as a plumber. He was a hardworking man who enjoyed life and loved spending time with family and friends. After a 14 year courtship he married the love of his life Janet on October 14th, 2023. Together they shared a deep love and devotion to one another. Nick was a proud father to his three children, Ashton, Courtney, and Christopher, and a loving grandfather to Lily and Danny. His family meant everything to him. He enjoyed many hobbies throughout his life including shooting pool, bowling, fishing, and golfing. He also loved playing softball, football, and soccer. Nick was an avid sports fan and especially loved the Pittsburgh Steelers, OKC Thunder, and OU Sooners. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Margaret (Palmer) Anderson; his grandfathers, Reuben Anderson and Robert “Bob” Dick; his uncle, GC Anderson; and aunt Olene (Perry) Impson Nick is survived by his loving wife, Janet Gardner-Philemonof of Tulsa, Oklahoma; his mother, Shirley (Anderson) Ross of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; his brother, Allen Philemonof of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; his sister, Nancie Causey and husband Rick of Wright City, Oklahoma; his daughter, Ashton Houston and husband Hondo of Boynton, Oklahoma; his daughter, Courtney Philemonof of Kansas City, Kansas; his son, Christopher McCoy of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; and his cherished grandchildren, Lily and Danny Houston of Boynton, Oklahoma. He also leaves behind a loving aunt, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss him dearly. Viewing for friends will be held Thursday, May 14, 2026, beginning at 9:00 a.m., with family receiving visitors from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Funeral Home in Muskogee, Ok. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 15, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Cornerstone Funeral Home, with lunch to follow at Bended Knee Cowboy Church in Boynton, OK.
