Norma L. Sickler

Norma Lee Sickler, 84, of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed away Saturday, August 15, 2015 surrounded by her loved ones. She was born June 30, 1931 in Delavan, Wisconsin to Norman and Mabel (Hamblin) Dickman. She attend High School in Delavan, Wisconsin and graduated in the year of 1949. Norma married the love of her life, Weston Lee Sickler, on May 12, 1951 in Delavan, Wisconsin. Norma was a woman full of love and life. She was a mother and wife that anyone would have loved to have. She was warm, kind, and would do anything for you. She also had a stern hand when one was in need of minding. She loved her children’s sports and always made sure we got there and never missed a game. She rooted for us to do the best we could whether win or lose she praised us for winning and comforted us for losing. She was a mother always trying to teach us right from wrong, even when our friends would come to visit. Her house was full of love and food. There was always three squares a day of home cooked food plus snacks. She also made homemade bread and peach cobbler. Her family and friends never left her house hungry. A snack was like when one of the boys and a friend came to her house after hunting and ate eight T- bone steaks. She was a person of nature she loved birds of all kinds especially hummingbirds. She loved their energy and the way they flew proud with such speed. Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Weston Lee Sickler; granddaughter, Tashea “Deedee” Portis; and brother, Bob Dickman. She is survived by her children, Lee Sickler and wife Josie of Muskogee, OK, Linda Sickler Portis and husband, Joel of Muskogee, OK, Bryan Sickler and wife Becky of Muskogee, OK, Cheryl Sickler Monks and husband George of Stigler, OK, Sandra Sickler Roe and husband James Roe, Jr. of Tuba City, AZ; 17 grandchildren, Jessica, Jamie, Jason, Jerry, Wesley, Rachel, Crystal, Scooter, Toni, Vanessa, Tiffany, Josh, Jennifer, Cassandra, Samantha, Jamie Rose, and James Donald Roe III, 27 great grandchildren; brother, Richard Dickman and wife Eileen of Stoughton, WI; son-in-law, Jerry Edgar, Sr. of Pourm, OK; and many other family members and friends. A celebration of life service for Norma will be 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Monte Humphrey officiating. Interment will be at Agnew Cemetery with Wesley Edgar, Jerry Edgar, Sr., Josh Monks, Brad Lawley, Scooter Portis, and Danny Bolling serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Ted Stevens, John Smith, Steve Taylor, Bill Burris, Bret Smith, Mitch Brock, Rick Clark, and Jerry Edgar, Jr.
