Norma L. Smith

Norma Louise Smith, 81, of Boynton, Oklahoma went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, September 27, 2017. She was born August 29, 1936 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas to Byron Lester Williams and Mattie Hazel (Graham) Williams. She attended public schools at Boynton and Haskell. Norma met and later married her best friend, J. C. Smith, on June 6, 1953 in Van Buren, Arkansas. They shared more than 64 years of life and marriage together. She worked as a Home Healthcare provider; a job she truly loved. She had a very strong work ethic as she retired in 2015 at the age of 78. She loved to help people and knew her patients needed her. Norma will always be remembered as the “Rock of the family”. She always made breakfast and dinner for her family. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren loved Sunday morning breakfast as they knew chocolate gravy was always on the menu. Norma was an active member of Boynton Assembly of God Church where she taught Sunday School for the younger children and she also cleaned the church; both responsibilities which she took much pride in. She loved her family dearly and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Byron and Hazel Williams; her in-laws, Cebe and Deila Smith; daughter, Patrica Atwell; brothers-in-law, Cleo Smith, Carl Smith, Howard Smith, and Sonny Mayo; and sister-in-law, Ida Williams. Norma is survived by her husband, J.C., of the home; sons, David Smith and wife Barbara of OKC, OK, Danny Smith and wife Brenda of Boynton; daughter, Connie Smith; very special granddaughter, Makenna, both of Muskogee, grandchildren, Shane Atwell, David Smith, Shanna Cheatham, Jeremy Smith, Kim Smith, Angela Lang, Brianne Smith, Laci Smith, Jordan Smith, and Daniel Smith; 2 special great-grandsons, Tanner Robinson and Christopher Robinson; along with 25 other great-grandchildren; brothers, Paul Williams of Tulsa, James Williams and wife Andrea of Haskell, and Gary Williams of Boynton; sister, JoAnn Cobb and husband Monroe of Haskell; sisters-in-law, Naomi Mayo of Muskogee and Francis Edwards and husband Dennis of Claremore; along with other family members and friends. Funeral services honoring Norma’s life will be 11AM, Saturday, September 30, 2017 at Boynton Assembly of God Church with Rev. Cecil Guthrie and Brother Dean Moore officiating. Interment will follow at Haskell City Cemetery with Shane Atwell, Daniel Smith, David (Dee) Smith, Tanner Robinson, Jeremy Smith, Chris Robinson, Mason Cheatham, and Malachi Lang serving as pallbearers.
