Patrick B. Boyd Sr.

With deep respect and loving memory, we announce the passing of Patrick Bradley Boyd Sr., a cherished lifetime resident of Muskogee, Oklahoma, who departed this life at the age of 98. Born on May 31, 1927, to Oscar and Fannie (Thompson) Boyd, Patrick’s legacy is woven into the fabric of his hometown, defined by his unwavering commitment to his family, his faith, and his country. Raised in Muskogee, Patrick attended Muskogee Public Schools and graduated from Muskogee Central High School. His pursuit of knowledge continued, culminating in an associate’s degree from Muskogee Junior College in 1954, a testament to his dedication and perseverance. On January 27, 1947, Patrick married the love of his life, Iva Jeanette Brittain. Together, they shared more than 54 years of unwavering devotion and partnership, building a life rooted in mutual love and respect. Iva preceded Patrick in death on September 29, 2001, and their bond remains a lasting inspiration to all who knew them. Patrick’s service to his country began at a young age, enlisting in the United States Navy where he served honorably as a Seaman First Class, and was honorably discharged on June 7, 1946. He later continued his dedication to the nation as a member of the United States Army. Patrick’s commitment to supporting veterans extended well beyond his military service; he dedicated many years as an adjudicator with the Muskogee Veterans Regional Office, where his integrity and compassion touched countless lives until his retirement. A man of deep faith, Patrick was a longtime and faithful member of Timothy Baptist Church in Muskogee, where he found fellowship, purpose, and community. Patrick Bradley Boyd Sr.’s life was a testament to service, steadfast love, and gentle guidance. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege to know him. Patrick was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Fannie Boyd, and his beloved wife, Iva; his son, Rick Boyd; his great-grandson and namesake, Bradley George Dillon, who was the apple of his eye; and eight sisters. He is survived by his son, Patrick Bradley Boyd Jr; grandchildren, Brandy Wheeler and husband Terry, Kim Martin and husband Greg, and Alan Boyd; great-grandchildren, Jacob Boyd and Karley Page, all of Muskogee; great-great-grandchild, Ayden Dillon; his sister, Kathy Ley of Florida; along with other family members and friends who will continue to carry forward his legacy of kindness, strength, and humility. Family, friends, and all who were touched by Patrick’s remarkable life are invited to celebrate his memory at 10:30 AM on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at Timothy Baptist Church, with Pastor Kelly Payne officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhill Cemetery, where military honors will be presented in recognition of his distinguished service. Serving as pallbearers will be Nick Romine, Donnie Sawyer, Bill Filman, Scott Walker, Alan Boyd, Greg Martin, and Duke Boyd.
