Patsy Lou "Pat" Briley

Patsy Lou Briley, 73, of Muskogee, passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2016. She was born September 3, 1942 in the McClain Community of Muskogee County to Owen and Iva (Landers) Scott. She grew up in the Elm Grove Community and attended Elm Grove Public School and later attended Oktaha High School, from which she graduated with the class of 1960. She was an excellent student, a member of the Tiger Softball Team, participated in the school’s play and programs, and was nominated for the Basketball Homecoming Court. On June 25, 1965, she married the love of her life, Jackie H. Briley, at Elm Grove. Together they have celebrated over 50 years of life and happy marriage together. She enjoyed being a homemaker and taking care of her home. She was known for her gifts of hospitality, being a seamstress, having a greenthumb and especially for her love of her grandchildren. Her family remembers that she also enjoyed working with Hunt’s Department Store from 1980 until 1987. “Pat”, as everyone knew her by, was saved and baptized in April of 1975. She was an active member of Keefeton Trinity Baptist Church, serving in the Church Nursery, the Kitchen and also participated in VBS. She is preceded in death by her parents, Owen and Iva Scott; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Clarence and Jimmie Briley. Pat is survived by her husband, Jackie Briley of the home; two daughters, Tammy Crawley and her husband Mike of Tahlequah, OK and Amy Rice and her husband Kelly of Cameron, OK; seven grandchildren, Sarah Crawley Rogers and husband Levi Rogers, Matthew Crawley and fiance’ Jessica Tripp, Aaron Crawley, Rachel Rice, Jonathan Rice, Nathan Rice, and Seth Rice; one great grandchild, Jackson Rogers; two sisters, June Lester and Charlene Pease, both of Muskogee; two brothers, Donald “Nubbin” Scott and wife Joyce, Norman “Jud” Scott and wife Lou, all of Muskogee; brother-in-law, Robert Briley and wife Patricia of Townsend, GA; sister-in-law, Margie “Sue” Bohanon of Midwest City, OK; special nephews, Philip and Tim Nickels; special niece, Katie (Nickels) and husband, Brian Garner, all of Muskogee; along with a host of other relatives and friends. The family will be at Cornerstone Funeral Home to receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, May 15, 2016. Funeral services honoring Pat’s life will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 16, 2016 at Keefeton Trinity Baptist Church with Pastor James Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at Agnew Cemetery with Matthew Crawley, Aaron Crawley, Levi Rogers, Brian Garner, Kenneth Moton, and Joe Croftcheck serving as pallbearers.
