Peggy Joe Moore

Peggy Joe Anthis was born to Nola Jean and Royal Noble Anthis on August 14, 1930 at the Oklahoma Baptist Hospital in Muskogee, OK. She was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, mother -in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother, cousin, friend and child of the King. She was the seventh and last born to her parents. The Angels came and carried her home to be with her Lord forever on November 10, 2019. On September 25, 1948 she married Gerald Taylor West and remained married to him for almost 50 years. He died on June 28, 1998. After his death, she married Gary Moore on December 18, 1999, who survives her. Other survivors include: her daughter, Julie Ann West Tucker and husband Jack and daughter-in-law Cherry West Thompson and husband Bruce. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Susan Jennifer Tucker of Norman, OK, Amanda (Mandi) Kaye Harris and husband Shawn P. Harris of Wainwright, OK, Jack F. Tucker, Jr. of Oktaha, OK, and Candace Jean West Bowden and husband Aaron Bowden of Muskogee and six great-grandsons, Kellen Westlee Bowden, Carson Dene Bowden and Cade Finley Bowden of Muskogee, and Dylan Ross Harris, Blake Taylor Harris, and Mason Reid Harris of Wainwright, two great-granddaughters Hannah Renee Harris, of Wainwright and Sadie Grace Bowden of Muskogee, step-daughter Lesa Moore Hunter and husband Brian of Muskogee and step-grandsons, Jonathan Hunter and fiancé Luci Whitaker, Jeramy Hunter and a step granddaughter. Her sister Pauline Ward also survives her as well as many nephews and nieces and wonderful friends. Preceding her in death are her beloved first husband, Gerald Taylor West, her wonderful son Gerald Taylor West, Jr. (Jerry), her parents Royal and Nola Anthis, two sisters, Nola Jean Rigney and Dorothy Orsbern and three brothers, Royal Noble Anthis, Jr., Robert Lee Anthis and Billie Jim Anthis and her step-son Devin Ray Moore. Besides being a wife and mother, Peggy worked in several medical offices during her lifetime. She started out at Fite Clinic in 1954, then Dr. Ted Hine and Dr. Mike Fite at the Muskogee Women’s Clinic where she was office manager for many years. She and Gerald both retired in 1986, she from Dr. Fite's office and Gerald from Oklahoma Natural Gas Co. The West family enjoyed many activities including walks in the woods, playing games and singing in the car on their way to different events and going to gospel singings. Peggy loved horses and rode until she was 68 years old. Church attendance was at the top of their activities. It was seldom asked if we were going to Church as we all knew it would be yes. She felt so privileged to live a life of much happiness and joy and having two wonderful children and in-laws and grandchildren, two wonderful husbands and gaining another daughter, son and two more grandsons when she married Gary and her many friends were a joy to her. Peggy loved people and loved going places and doing things. Traveling was a favorite thing she and Gerald (and later Gary) enjoyed doing together. She and Gerald were involved in square dancing with the Gad-A-Bouts in the 70's, she loved bowling and they loved visiting friends. They loved their Church family and being a part of fellowship. After her marriage to Gary, she enjoyed time with him and his family. She and Gary enjoyed many trips together, working in the yard which they took great pride in and putting up their many Christmas lights and having cookouts for the family especially celebrating birthdays, holidays and helping Gary host the Moore Family Reunions. Peggy enjoyed life and doing things with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved cooking for them as long as she was able and having them in her home. Peggy’s family will receive friends 5:30PM-7:30PM, Friday, November 15, 2019 at Cornerstone Funeral Home. A celebration of Peggy’s life will be 10:30AM, Saturday, November 16, 2019 at Southeast Baptist Church with Rev. Monty Baggett and Pastor Mike Murray officiating. Entombment will follow at Oktaha Cemetery with Larry Isom, Joe Hull, Ron Null, Benny Ross, Kenny Jackson and Howard Kleeman serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Tucker, Sr., Jack Tucker, Jr., Shawn P. Harris, Aaron Bowden, Bruce Thompson and Brian Hunter.
