Raymond Harrison "Bud" Holder

Raymond Harrison “Bud” Holder was born December 08, 1952 in Muskogee, Oklahoma to Muriel and Phyllis Beaver Holder. He changed addresses on September 5, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family and friends. Bud graduated from Warner High School with the class of 1971. He attended Connors State College and graduated with a degree in Architecture from Northeastern State University. After a few months at a desk, he decided to go back to school. He obtained a teaching degree from NSU. Bud taught school at Ft. Smith Schools in Ft. Smith Arkansas, Mannford Schools in Oklahoma, Splendora Schools in Texas and Hilldale Schools in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Later in his career, Bud received a master’s degree in Education (Administration) from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, TX. Bud was a principal at Apple Springs and Central HS in Texas and Porter Schools in Oklahoma. Bud retired from teaching in 2014 to raise cattle and take care of his family farm along with his special nephew, James Holder, who helped care for him during his illness. Bud loved teaching and has kept up with many of his former students. He loved raising cattle and had a baling business for many years. He loved watching his grandchildren in their sports through Facebook. Bud loved going to the races and watching Five-Star, Dalton Clay race and fishing until his illness. Bud is preceded in death by his parents, Muriel and Phyllis Holder; his brother, Michael Holder; his grandson, Caleb Beckler; and his brother-in-law, Terry Tarrant. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Sherry Tarrant Holder of the home; his daughter, Rebecca Beckler and her husband Matthew and their children, Grace, Luke, Chloe, and Zachary of Phoenix; his special great-aunt, Ardyce Briggs of Muskogee; his brother-in-law, Roger and Leah Tarrant and their children Crystal, Sarah and Roger; his sister-in-law, Shelly Brickner who moved into his home to help care for him, and her children Riley and Emma of Roanoke, TX; Terry’s children, Wes, Samantha and Regan Tarrant; his brother Michael’s children, James Holder and his wife Jamie and their children Kilee, Milee, Brantley, and Riley who live on the family farm in Keefeton, and Crystal and her husband Michael and their son Steven of Muskogee; and many other family members and friends. Bud and Sherry would like to thank those that have helped care for him during his illness; James and Jamie Holder, Shelly Brickner, Rod Burress, Casey with Encompass Home Health and nurse Diane with Complete Hospice. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Braille Challenge/Cane Quest at the Oklahoma School for the Blind or a donation to the Little Light House in Tulsa Oklahoma. A celebration of Bud’s life will be 10:00 A.M., Saturday, September 10, 2022 at Keefeton Free Will Baptist Church with Pastor Danny Barks and Pastor Gina Woods officiating. Interment will follow at Agnew Cemetery with Rod Burress, Dalton Clay, RJ Adams, Colton Yarborough, Jimbo Wiedel, JJ Wiedel, Donnie Stout, Speck Plunkett, Roy Coleman, Jeremy Coleman, Robert Plunkett, Frank Jones and Frank (Clown) Fewel serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Ed Coleman and James Holder.
