Roger L. Bartlett

Roger L Bartlett went to be with the Lord on March 13, 2019. Roger was born on December 13, 1951 in Sandyville, West Virginia to Doris Wolfe and Raymond Bartlett. He is preceded in death by his mother, Doris Wolfe; father, Raymond Bartlett; stepfather, Bruce Wolfe; grandparents, Markwood and Annie Piggott; brother, Eddie Bartlett; aunt, Myrtle Potter; uncle, Sam Potter; cousin, Rhonda Thompson; and brother/friend and partner in crime, Billy Evington. Roger is survived by his sister, Sheri Kay Baird and husband Thomas of Yukon, OK; special nephew, Kyler Baird of Yukon, OK; stepsister, Ann Church of Ft Gibson, OK; son, Ricky Hoang of San Francisco, CA; cousins, Carolyn Byrd and husband William of Muskogee, OK, Marilyn Murphy of Ft Myers, FL, Linda Brown and husband Chuck of Muskogee, OK, L.J. Williams Jr and wife Tonya of Muskogee, OK, and two very special cousins, Rebecca Williams and Carly Williams both of Muskogee, OK; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. Roger will truly be missed by a very special person in his life, his very best friend, Charla Sloan and husband Randy of McCurtain, OK. Honorary pallbearers will be Ricky Hoang, L.J. Williams Jr, Randy Sloan, Thomas Baird, Carroll Huggins, Thai Diep, Kim AnVan Ngo, and John Ford Jr. After Roger graduated high school in Genoa, AR, he enlisted into the United States Air Force in June 1970 where he served as a Vietnamese language interpreter until 1974. He was a very big advocate for the Veterans which is why he loved serving on the Veterans and Family Advisory Council at the Jack Montgomery VA Hospital in Muskogee. Roger loved to travel all over the world; he had stories of every place he had been and thousands of pictures to prove it. Roger had a heart of a servant, he spent most of his life helping others. Roger was the greatest grant writer in the tri-state area. Roger wrote hundreds of grants but Road to Work and the SSVF grant for Veterans that he wrote for KI BOIS, CAF are two of his biggest and proudest achievements in his grant writing career. He worked all over the world helping others such as being a consultant and placement specialist providing employment and career counseling to the youth in San Francisco and in New York. Roger was a consultant for many Community Actions and Public Transits, some of those include KI BOIS, CAF, Muskogee County Transit, and Muscogee Creek Nation Transit. Roger was very proud of his accomplishments and very good at what he did, and he received many awards to prove it. Some of which includes receiving the President’s Award twice for the Oklahoma Transit Association, and having a brick laid in his name for the Preservation and Restoration of the Kansas City Southern Railway Depot in Stilwell, OK. But most of all, Roger loved his dog, Toby. He loved Toby so much that Toby has his pictures all over the world. Roger impacted many lives and left an impression on all those that he met. Roger will be spoken about often and greatly missed. In the words of Roger, “BYE BYE and BUY BONDS” A celebration of Roger’s life will be at 2PM, Monday, March 18, 2019 at Fort Gibson National Cemetery with Pastor Monte Nichols officiating. Military honors will be presented.
