Roger G. Folsom

Roger Glen Folsom, 64, of Muskogee, Oklahoma entered into his eternal Heavenly home on Friday, November 13, 2015. He was born September 17, 1951 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma to George William Folsom and Dee Mahan Folsom. Roger attended public schools and graduated from Central High School in 1969. He married his best friend, Vickie Lynne Buckmaster, on July 16, 1971 at Immanuel Baptist Church in Muskogee. They shared 44 years, 3 months, and 28 days of marriage together. Roger and Vickie faithfully attended Immanuel Baptist Church where he was ordained as a Deacon on March 4, 1979. He served as Chairman of the Deacons for many years. Roger worked for the Muskogee Fire Department where he proudly worked his way up to the rank of Captain. He retired in 1998. He was instrumental in forming the Muskogee Fire Department Clown Society. He later worked for Oklahoma Rig & Supply until his health wouldn’t allow. He enjoyed many hobbies from playing on the Muskogee Christian Softball League, being an auctioneer, a “wheeler-dealer”, craftsman, to handyman; there was not much he couldn’t do. Roger will always be remembered for his love of his family. He will be truly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Dee Folsom; brother, Stan Folsom; sister, Donna Folsom; his father-in-law, Jim Buckmaster- “Pops”; and his mother-in-law, Roxie Buckmaster – “LuEller”. Roger is survived by his wife, Vickie of the home; son, Jimbo Folsom and wife Stephanie; daughter, Gina Walker and husband Robert; grandchildren, Cody Walker, Dee Folsom, Tanner Walker, Madison Folsom, and Tatum Folsom; sister, Georgetta Killebrew and husband Fantley; brother-in-law, David Buckmaster and wife Janet; sister-in-law, Linda Stinson and husband Doug; nieces, Kelly Thompson and her friend Clark, Kaye Lynne Hazelwood and husband Mikey, Sarah Beth Lippmann and husband Michael; nephews, Billy Folsom, Terry Folsom and wife Dottie, Mickey Buckmaster and wife Amy, and Logan Stinson; many other family members and friends. The family requests memorials be made to the Roger Folsom Memorial Fund which has been set up at Bancfirst in Muskogee. The family will receive friends from 5:30-7:30 p.m., Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at Cornerstone Funeral Home. Funeral services honoring Roger’s life will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, November 19, 2015 at the Muskogee First Baptist Church with Pastor Nate Capps and Pastor Adrian Totty officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhill Cemetery with the Muskogee Fire Department Honor Guard and the Muskogee Police Department Honor Guard serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Ty Pickering, Mark Prox, John Dowling, Frankie Heytz, Harold Parsons, ArrCee Mabe, Danny Tracy, Roger Lovelady, Gary Andrews, Steve Morgan, Ricky Rodden, Ronald Hornback, Gary Morgan; and the Muskogee Police Dept Special Operations Team.
