Ronald D. "Ron" Wood

Ronald Dean Wood, 78, of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 2, 2019 with his family by his side. He was born on December 4, 1940 to Oscar Eldon Wood and Margaret Barbara (Thomas) Wood in Manhattan, Kansas. He attended and graduated from high school in Kansas. On August 16, 2012 he married Sandra Lee (Caldwell) Wood in Fayetteville, AR at Justice of the Peace. He worked at Zapata for many years and retired in 2005. He also worked as a manager of catering at a hotel, bartender, truck driver, and in road construction. He loved to fish and play in pool tournaments. He also enjoyed helping Sandy with estate sales and in her consignment store, and dancing around Walmart because he loved jokes and making people laugh. Ronald was a jack of all trades; he could fix anything from electrical to sewing. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion and served as a board member for the Wainwright water district for many years. He was also a faithful member of Fort Gibson Church of Christ. Ronald is preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Margaret Wood; mother-in-law, Iva Caldwell; brother-in-law, Gene Caldwell; nephew, Mark Wood. He is survived by his wife Sandy Wood of the home; father-in-law Forrest Caldwell of the home; Michael, Shelli, and Allie Jiles of Hulbert, Oklahoma; Trevor and Lane Jiles of Fort Gibson, Oklahoma; Richard, Missy, Peyton, and Savannah Caldwell of Andover, Kansas; Andy, Meagan, and Addison Caldwell of Muskogee, Oklahoma; Amber and Ava Elkins of Fort Gibson, Oklahoma, Scott and Courtney Caldwell of Yukon, Oklahoma; Shari and Courtney Lewis. Jack and Ciarra Lewis, Kayleigh and Jesse Webb of Muskogee; brother, Bob and wife Pat Wood of Nebraska; Brian Bookless of Jenks; and Kenny and Tony Bookless of Colorado; Cathy Green and Mike Wood of Nebraska. A celebration of Ronald’s life will be 12:30pm Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at Fort Gibson Church of Christ with Henry Petree and Dan Rouse officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Gibson National Cemetery with Michael Jiles, Trevor Jiles, Richard Caldwell, and Andy Caldwell serving as Pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be Benny Garland and James Wood.
