Roy Eldon "Don" Harp

Roy Eldon “Don” Harp, A loving husband, father, grandfather and brother departed from this world on Monday, December 11, 2017. He was born in Warner, OK to Roy and Beulah Harp. Shortly afterwards they moved to Fritch, Texas and was raised with one older sister, Barbara Vieth. Don enlisted in the United States Army in 1963 and served a total of 8 years. During his enlistment he served in areas such as Germany and Korea. He received an honorable discharge in 1971. Don met the love of his life, Phyllis Purdom, in 1965. He would leave love notes on the back of guest checks at the Texaco. On their first date he told her he loved her and 49 years later he reminded her every day of his love. They were married on June 12, 1968 and had 4 children, who they raised in Warner, OK. His occupation during that time consisted of over the road truck driver and closer to his retirement he became a local Muskogee Ready Mix truck driver. During his retirement his hobbies included leather work, working outdoors, visiting neighbors and family, being an avid OU fan, as well as taking his wife shopping and running around. Don was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Beulah Harp; and infant sister, Norma Jean Harp. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Harp of the home; children, Royce Harp and wife Shelly of Haskell, OK, Tana Wilson and husband Jason of Fort Gibson, OK, Dawna McGee and husband Frank of Dewar, OK, and Jena Young and husband Amos of Warner, OK; grandchildren, Jordan Pollard, Taylor Harp, Shelby Jones, Jessica Wilson, Braycee Wilson; one great-grandchild, Paisley Ann-Marie Harp of Glenpool, OK; sister, Barbara Vieth of Broken Arrow, OK; one niece, June Vieth of Broken Arrow, OK; and one great-niece of Broken Arrow, OK. A celebration of Don’s life will be 10:00 A.M., Monday, December 18, 2017 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jodie Cox officiating. Interment will follow at Agnew Cemetery with Jeff Farley, Dennis Turner, Peter Liimatta, Jeremy Brown, Mitch Purdom and Mark Heflin serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Amos Young, Jason Wilson, Brant Parker, Frank McGee, Ricky Center, Leroy Young and Jimmy Villines.
