Roy Edward Moran

Roy Edward Moran of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed away at the age of 80 on May 5th, 2023. Roy was born in Muskogee County to Seymour Jack and Nellie Pearl (Rogers) Moran. He was the 4th child of this union and the baby of 10 children. He went to Elm Grove Elementary School and Oktaha High School graduating in 1961. He also served in the United States Air Force Reserve for 6 years stationed at Davis Field in Muskogee, OK. Roy worked at Acme Engineering for 32 years before retiring. Roy married the love of his life Shelia Mae (Coe) Moran on April 30, 1977. They have 4 children, 13 grandchildren and 39 Great Grandchildren. He is survived by his children, Mark E. Moran and wife Rhonda, John G. Moran and wife, Elizabeth, Nikki Dawn Munsell, and Adam Glen Nicholson. Grandchildren: Heather Handle, Courtney Philemon, Ashton Houston and Hondo, Jeremy Moran and Lacey, Mason Moran and Christie, John G Moran, Jr and Franchel, Britain Moran, Chetan Munsell and Katie, Taylor Munsell, Cortney Berryhill and Dakota, Tobi Mendenhall and Randy, Tyler Mayes and Brianna, and Lindsey Mayes and 39 great grandchildren. He is survived by 2 brothers, Henry (Spooky) Moran and wife, Joanne, and Jim Moran. Also, there are many precious nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Seymour Jack and Nellie Pearl (Rogers) Moran and his wife of 46 years, Shelia Mae (Coe) Moran. Also preceding him in death were his siblings, Connie Haws and Wife, Mabel, Joyce Carman and husband, John, Florean Haws, Norean McBride, Ruby Holder, and husband Leon, Billie Jean Haws, Betty Morris and husband, Bruce. Roy also lost a son, Jackie Wayne Moran, as an infant. Roy was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather and his love shined bright to them and so many more. He was generous, kind, compassionate and the rock of the family. His kids describe him as: Mark said Selfless, because he would always do for others, John said Kindhearted, because he never had anything bad to say about anyone, Nikki said, My Hero because he chose to love me and my family when he didn’t have to. Roy was a member of Timothy Baptist Church for 22 years, loved to go camping, took a lot of Branson trips, enjoyed fishing, golf and being around his greatest joy, his family. Roy, papa, da, brother, uncle, and friend will live on in our hearts forever. We will celebrate Roy Moran’s homecoming with Jesus on Thursday, May 11th, 2023 at Timothy Baptist Church with Rev. Kelly Payne and Chetan Munsell officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhill Cemetery with Adam Nicholson, Jeremy Moran, Mason Moran, Johnny Moran, Britain Moran, and Jerry James (JJ) Moran serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Paul A Jones, Mike Oakley, Richard L Mullen and Thomas Barrow. Viewing will be held at Cornerstone Funeral home on Wednesday, May 10th, 2023 with the family being there from 5pm to 7pm.
