Ruby L. Jones

Ruby Lorine Jones, 97, of Muskogee, Okla. was called to Heaven early Friday morning, Nov. 27, 2015. She was born July 25, 1918 to John & Lilly Sowers in Seminole, Okla. She grew up in the Wagoner area where she enjoyed singing in church and living for God. It was at Redbud Church where she met the love of her life, Fred Vernie Jones. They married on Aug. 3, 1935 in Wagoner Okla. During their 56 years of marriage they had many blessings. 10 of them being their children, which in-turn created the most beautiful family tree. She worked side by side with her husband raising their kids and tending their farm. As years passed, they moved to Muskogee where she worked and retired from Muskogee General Hospital. She enjoyed going to church, sewing, fishing and shopping. She loved spending time with her family. No matter how long the visit or how many were there, it was always a joyous reunion and none of us wanted to leave, which lead to many late night games of canasta, tubs of popcorn and kids on pallets everywhere. When the time came to leave and I love you's were said, her last words you would hear is "love you more". She loved us all but had an amazing way of making each one of us feel special. Through her love, she taught us strength, happiness, patience, faith and that family is the most important gift of all. She was a devoted Christian who lived her life for the Lord. She was a member of Lighthouse Assembly of God in Muskogee, Okla. for over 40 years. She was a light that guided many. A light that will burn bright within all of us, forever. She is survived by 3 daughters; Paulette Newton and husband Bill of Oktaha, Okla., Janice Benson and husband John of Muskogee, Okla., Karen Younce and husband Eddie of Ft. Gibson, Okla., 1 daughter-in-law; Peggy Jones-Focht and husband OJ of Glencoe, Okla. She is survived by 3 sons; Paul Jones and wife Carole of Colton, CA., Bobby Jones and wife Standell of Hulbert, Okla., Mike Jones of Muskogee and 1 son-in-law Jerry Bewley of Bray, Okla. She is also survived by 2 twin sisters; Violet Burgus of CA and Viola Duke of AZ., as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren, other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; Fred Jones, 3 sons; Harvey Jones, Alfred Jones and Edgar Jones, daughter; Lois Bewley, 3 daughters-in-law; Janice Jones, Lorraine Jones and Hellen Jones, 6 grandchildren; Randy Jones, Freddie Michael Jones III, Chad Clampitt, Keith Jones, Jamie Cooley and Riley Christian. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at Cornerstone Funeral Home from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. A celebration of Ruby’s life will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2015 at New Hope Assembly, Muskogee, OK, with Rev. Sherman Dix officiating. Interment will follow in Greenhill Cemetery. Pallbearers include Todd Jones, Jerry Don Bewley, Bobby Lynn Jones, John Paul Jones, Micheal Jones and Christian Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons, great grandsons and great great grandsons.
