Sandy Mathis

Sandra Faye Mathis, age 68 of Muskogee, OK passed away peacefully surrounded by her beloved family on April 2, 2023, in Tulsa, OK. Sandy was born in McAlester, OK on November 4, 1954, to Oscar and Hazel (Northington) Hall. Sandy was the youngest of 4 siblings. On September 1, 1973, Sandy married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Rodney Joe Mathis. From this union of nearly fifty years came three beautiful children and seven grandchildren. Rodney and Sandy moved from Arlington, TX to Muskogee, OK in 1984 where they raised their family, made their home, and ran a successful business, Mathis Printing. Sandy loved her home. She and Rodney shared a love for animals, especially horses and cats, gardening, and sitting on their porch watching their kids and grandkids play in the yard. She was happiest when she was with her grandchildren, and her eyes would light up as soon as they walked into a room. Sandy’s love for Jesus was foremost in her life and she was a member of Keefeton Trinity Baptist Church in Muskogee, OK. Sandy is preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Hazel Hall; her oldest sister, Jeanette Kenney; and nephew Bobby Hall. Sandy is survived by her loving husband, Rodney, of the home; daughters, Amber (Alyssa) of Norman, OK, Heather (Josh) of Council Hill, OK; son, Clifton (Brooke) of Gravette, AR; and seven beautiful grandchildren, Lane, Scott Patrick, Chandler, Kate, Camden, Colt, and Savannah; brother, Melvin Hall; and sister, Mary Sue Harden (Hugh) both of McAlester, OK; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. The family will receive friends from 2:30-4:30PM, Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel. A celebration of Sandy’s life will be 10AM, Thursday, April 6, 2023 at Keefeton Trinity Baptist Church with Pastor James Taylor officiating. The interment will follow at North Town Cemetery in McAlester, OK with Lane Miller, Scott Miller, Chandler Mathis, Camden Mathis, Ethan Williams, and Dylan Hall all serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Colt Mathis, Josh Vandiver, Rodney Baker, Jody Kenney, Ken Harden, Russell Bigelow, Mike Hunter, Cody Hunter, Denver Hunter, Ty Hunter, Brenton Hall, Justin Hall and Steve Herriman.
