Sharlet A. Balcom

Sharlet Ann Balcom, 76, passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2026. She was born April 7, 1950, in Muskogee, Oklahoma, to Doyl McDaniel and Helen Marie (Edwards) Huggins. She was a graduate of Muskogee Central High School. In 1968, she married Gary Lee Balcom in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Sharlet retired as sheriff secretary at Muskogee County Sheriff’s Office. She was known for the love she shared with her family and the special place she held in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her family was her greatest joy, and the memories they made together will be cherished forever. She is survived by her daughters, Heather Phipps and husband Jim, and Dawn Knupp and husband Mike both of Muskogee, OK; her grandchildren, Hannah Lees and husband Jonathan, Noah Bourassa, Morgan Sallee and husband Winston, Cierra Olmstead and husband Brandon Brown, Hailey Watteau and husband Caleb, Haley Fuller and husband Bradley, Autumn Jett and husband Ryan, Karli Knupp, and Blake Knupp; and her many beloved great-grandchildren, including Asher Lees, Savannah and Kennedy Sallee, Haydon Nicholson, Aizlynn Perdue, Presley Perdue, Aspen Fuller, Orion Fuller, and Hadley Jett. She is also survived by her brother, Darrin McDaniel and wife Chrystal; stepsister, Debbie Vandiver and husband Danny; nephews, Dustin Vandiver and wife Cassie, Drew Vandiver and wife Kambri, and D.J. McDaniel and wife Heather; and many other family members and friends. Sharlet was preceded in death by her father, Doyl McDaniel; her mother, Helen Huggins; her stepfather, Hoot Huggins; her niece Danetta Vandiver, and her husband, Gary Lee Balcom. Though she is no longer with us, Sharlet’s love will live on through her family and in the countless memories she leaves behind. She will be deeply missed and forever loved. A celebration of Sharlet’s life will be 10AM, Tuesday, August 25, 2026 at Cornerstone Funeral Home with Pastor David Howell officiating. Interment will follow at Middleton Chapel with Mike Knupp, Jim Phipps, Noah Bourassa, Winston Sallee, Caleb Watteau and Brandon Brown serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Bradley Fuller and Austin Howell.
