Stanley E. Slader

Stanley Eugene Slader, 70, a lifetime resident of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed away Saturday, August 3, 2024. He was born February 8, 1954 to Cecil and Cherry (Ford) Slader. Stanley’s biggest passion in life was racing. Over the last 50 years, Stanley “The Legend” Slader made a major impact on the racing community, not only in Oklahoma, but the surrounding states as well. He was often referred to as “the old fast guy” and was looked upon as a mentor to so many in the racing world. He loved spending time at Thunderbird Speedway, which always had a special place in his heart. Though Stanley was extremely accomplished in the racing world, the accomplishment he was most proud of was his family. He especially loved it when he was able to have his family and racing together. Stanley loved watching his sons and grandsons race and looked forward to attending any race with his family. You could often find Stanley at the casino or visiting with friends, he was even known as a heck of a softball player. He never met a stranger and was well-loved by many around Muskogee. Stanley loved a good joke and never made you wonder what he was thinking! His love of life and heart for others will be deeply missed. He was preceded in death by his mother, Cherry Crater; father, Cecil (Corky) Slader; and granddaughter, Callie Slader. Stanley is survived by his sons, Brian Slader (Jennifer), Dennis Slader (Chelise), and John “John Boy” Richerson, all of Muskogee; grandchildren, Kyle Slader (Kendra Richards) of Salina, Brittany Stevenson (Heath) of Justin, Texas, Brodey Slader, Blake Miller, Cole Carpenter (Koie Nail), all of Muskogee; great-grandchildren, Landen Loftin, Kameron Loftin, Emerson Stevenson, and Reagan Stevenson, all of Justin, Texas; brother, Richard Slader (Janie) of Fort Gibson; stepbrother, Jerry Lee Livingston of Checotah; companion, Patty Evans and her children, Travis (Lori) Evans, Torri McElvany; grandchildren, Taitum McElvany and Timber McElvany; along with many dear friends. Stanley’s life will be celebrated at 7PM, Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at Thunderbird Speedway with Mr. Johnny Teehee and Pastor David Howell officiating. Pallbearers will be Devin Beach, Greg Beaver, Terry Elders, Bubby Morgan, Andy Simmons, and Ron Yates. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Anderson, Tommy Fulton, Joe Hull, Tommy Laster, Frankie Livingston, and Tommy Joe Pauschert. Interment will be private.
