Steven Thomas King

Steven Thomas King, 62 of Braggs, OK, entered Heaven’s gates early Saturday, April 16, 2016 with his family by his side. He was born February 11, 1954 in Shelbyville, IN to Jack E. and Betty L. (Kirkham) King. He grew up and attended the public schools in Tulsa, OK and graduated from East Central High School with the class of 1972. Following graduation from high school, Steve furthered his education by attending Conner’s State College in Warner and then onto Tulsa University. On October 25, 1984, Steve married the love of his life, Shirley L. Edwards, in Van Buren, Arkansas. Together, they have shared almost 32 years of happy life and marriage together. Steve and Shirley are active members of Southeast Baptist Church. Steve’s professional career was spent being a Truck Driver. He enjoyed this occupation very much because he shared his love of being a truck driver with his wife, Shirley; together they owned King and Company. For several years they worked side by side driving for such places as the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant, and most recently, driving by himself, he worked with Wal-Mart Transportation. He also worked for Fort Howard Paper Company and also owned Steve’s Boot and Saddle Shop in Tahlequah, OK. His family recalls his favorite hobbies were playing and watching baseball, riding horses, golfing, leather working and spending time with family and friends. He especially enjoyed his children and grandchildren and most recently his great grandchildren. He was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Greg King. Steve is survived by his wife, Shirley of the home; his children, Deana Perry and husband Chris of Braggs, OK, Kelly Farmer and husband Charlie of Braggs, OK, and Jason King and wife Tammy of Ft. Wainwright, AK; his grandchildren, Lacey Burgess of Braggs, OK, Haley Hart of Braggs, OK, Kristen Perry of Braggs, OK, Drew Winters of Ft. Wainwright, AK, Annie Hiebert of Ft. Wainwright, AK, Liberty King of Ft. Wainwright, AK, Kory Lotts of Ft. Wainwright, AK and Joshua Gibbons of California; his great grandsons, Turtle Burgess and Rodeo Perry both of Braggs, OK; other family members and friends. A celebration of Steve’s life will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2016, at Southeast Baptist Church, 2511 E. Hancock St., Muskogee, OK with Pastor Mike Murray officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Jason King, Keith Green, Sean Green, James Green, Jody Cash and David Edwards. Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Perry, Charlie Farmer, Lannie Edwards and Don Edwards. Interment will be in South Bethel Cemetery of Braggs, OK.
