Suzy L. Davis

Suzy Lanova Davis, 80, of Council Hill, Oklahoma passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2024. She was born August 29, 1943 in Columbia, Mississippi to Herschel and Wydell L. Ligon. She graduated from Columbia High School with the class of 1961. Suzy attended Pearl River Community College in Poplarville, Mississippi, The University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma, and Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. She received degrees in Business Education, Elementary Education and a master’s degree in Reading. She was certified in psychometry, early childhood education, and as a reading specialist. She worked at the Oklahoma State Department of Education and was an elementary school teacher for over 30 years until her retirement in 2010 from Moore Public Schools. Suzy loved her family very much and will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Bob and Mary Alice Lott (who raised Suzy); Mother, Wydell Ligon (who died in childbirth); father & stepmom, Herschel and Lilly Ligon; twin sister, Herschel Elaine Anding; sister-in-law, Cheryl Ann Ligon; and niece, Julie Thomas. Suzy is survived by her son, Lance Davis and wife Joy; grandson, Kyle Davis and wife Skylar; granddaughter, Brittany Tasca and husband Chris; 5 great-grandchildren, Kaden, Cameron, Caroline, Callie and Kyson all of Wainwright, OK; brothers, Bill Ligon of Old Hickory, TN, and Jim Ligon and wife Gail of Cookville, TN; nieces and nephews, Dana Ferguson and husband Will of Madison, AL, Randi Langlois and husband Kyle of Mount Juliet, TN, Andy Ligon of Gallatin, TN, Joshua Ligon of Chattanooga, TN and Jack Ligon and wife Brynn of Knoxville, TN; cousin, Linda Wright of Columbia, MS; and many other family members and friends. A celebration of Suzy’s life will be at 2PM, Friday, March 15, 2024 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mark Shores officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhill Cemetery with Kyle Davis, Chris Tasca, Mike Evans, Kaden Davis, Cameron Davis, and Caroline Tasca serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Callie Tasca and Kyson Davis.
