V. "Carolyn" Hunter

Virginia Carolyn (Walters) Hunter was born August 31, 1941, to Harry and Opal (Collins) Walters in Muskogee, Oklahoma. She passed peacefully from life on this earth on March 21, 2024, to meet her heavenly Father. Carolyn graduated from Muskogee Central High School in 1959. She and Bill Hunter were married on May 27, 1960, in Muskogee, Oklahoma. They had two boys, Brian Keith and Kevin Michael. Bill and Carolyn were very involved in the work of the Church in Muskogee. They attended East Point Christian Church for many years, with Bill serving as an elder and Carolyn as a dedicated elder’s wife for the congregation. They were very involved in the youth program, teaching the Junior High and High School class and taking many trips with the youth to Ozark Bible College. Carolyn loved music and played piano for the congregation for many years. Carolyn also worked at the First Christian Church as the secretary where she supported the ministers and congregation. Carolyn was a member of the York Street Christian Church. They moved to Lake Village, Arkansas in 1987. Carolyn spent many hours volunteering at the local hospital. She supported the Chicot Memorial Hospital Auxiliary for many years and in 2003-2004 was awarded the Arkansas Auxilian of the Year. In 2004, they moved back to Muskogee. Many people will remember Carolyn most when they look at their Christmas Tree every year. She made dated ceramic ornaments that she shared with many throughout the years. Carolyn was very talented and generous in sharing with others. Carolyn loved being a Nana to her five grandsons. She and Pawpaw made many trips to Texas and to Oklahoma to spend time with them. She loved to spoil the boys with homemade cinnamon rolls and iced sugar cookies. She and Pawpaw joyfully attended graduations and weddings for their grandsons and beamed with pride. Carolyn was preceded in death by her mom, Opal Walters; dad, Harry Walters; and brother, Don Walters and his wife Myrna. She is survived by her husband Bill of 63 years; her two sons; Brian and his wife Lesa of Muskogee, Oklahoma; Kevin and his wife Jamey of Lake Jackson, Texas; five grandsons, Jamison and wife Kristin of Benbrook, Texas; Jonathan and wife Luci of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Jeramy of Anderson, Indiana; Kristopher of Little Rock, Arkansas; and Andrew of Lake Jackson, Texas; one great grandson, Carson of Benbrook, Texas; along with nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members, and friends.
