Victor Douglas Hanzark

Victor Hanzark, 83, a loving husband and father, died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2025, in Tahlequah. He was born Feb. 3, 1942, in Martinez, Calif., to Samual Hanzark and Bernice Lambert. Vic grew up in California, but moved to Muskogee as a young adult. He met his wife, the former Margaret Brown, in 1969 and they were married in 1971 in Muskogee. On July 2, 2025, they celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary. Vic accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and set out to create a happy, Christian home. In 1974, daughter, Lori, was born, and in 1977 Vic and Margaret welcomed son, Ben. Vic’s career was spent working for wholesale drug companies in both Muskogee and Tulsa. He worked in data processing and as warehouse manager, retiring from Bergen Brunswig Drug Co. in 2006. That year the couple moved to Van Buren, Ark., to be near Margaret’s sister. In Muskogee, the Hanzarks were members of Eastside Church of Christ, working in the benevolence program; in Tulsa, they were members of Crosstown Church of Christ for 27 years (Vic drove the bus for Crosstown); and in Van Buren, they attended Pleasant Valley Church of Christ. The past couple of years, Vic has been mostly homebound, at his home near the Snake Creek area on Tenkiller Lake. He loved holding Sunday church services for his wife and her sister in their home. Vic also loved football, mostly the Oklahoma Sooners and their former quarterbacks in the NFL. He followed the Kansas City Chiefs, Philadelphia Eagles and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He also watched Arkansas, Tulsa and Oklahoma State when they played. He liked puzzles and the Peanuts gang. You’ll find many hats and shirts featuring Snoopy in the Hanzark home. The past few weeks he has been instructing Alexa to play A LOT of Christmas music. Vic was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Jay Lee Hanzark, of Muskogee, and his sister, Carol Colombo, who had joined Vic in Van Buren before her death. He is survived by his wife, Margaret, of the home; his daughter, Lori Werner and her husband, George, of Clarksville, Ark.; his son, Ben Hanzark, and his wife, Amy, of Broken Arrow; a grandson, Esten, of Broken Arrow; a granddog, Jack Werner; brother, Sam Hanzark, of Galt, Calif.; sister-in-law, Marilyn Treadaway, of Cookson; brother-in-law, Michael Brown, of Fresno, Calif.; two nieces, Cheryl Meridith of Muskogee and Teresa Cato of Bartlesville; nephew, Jay Hanzark, of Altamonte Springs, Fla.; and several more nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A family conducted memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, 2026, at the home of Vic’s niece and nephew, Vicky and Fount Holland of Cookson. Glen Lyle will officiate.
