Carole L. Thompson

March 17, 1933 - March 24, 2022

Carole (Long) Thompson, 89, of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2022. She was born on March 17, 1933 to Dewey Long and Clara (Norwood) Long in Muskogee, Oklahoma. She attended Sacred Heart Elementary School until 9th grade. Carole graduated from Ward-Belmont Preparatory High School, and then went on to earn her bachelor’s degree from Tulane-Sophie Newcomb Memorial College. In 1955, she married the love of her life, Robert B. Thompson, in Muskogee, Oklahoma. They shared many years of life, marriage, and family together. Carole and her husband, Robert, owned and operated Oklahoma Rig and Supply until their retirement in June of 1999. She also was an elementary school teacher earlier in life. Carole was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church attending Sacred Heart and St. Joseph Catholic Churches of Webbers Falls and Muskogee. She was an avid world traveler, fishing extraordinaire and a devoted philanthropist. Carole enjoyed crocheting, reading, working puzzles, and taking care of her teacup poodles, Muffin and Pepper. She shared a deep love for all who knew her and the memories made will be forever cherished. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dewey and Clara Long; husband, Robert Thompson; siblings, Duke and Pat Long, Diane and Fritz Hayhurst; great-granddaughters, Katelyn and Charlee. Carole is survived by her children, Beth and Jerry Stretch of Warner, OK, Charles and Sandy Thompson of Fort Gibson, OK, Steve and Donna Thompson of Muskogee, OK, and Ben and Jackie Thompson of Muskogee, OK; brother, Roger Long of Garden Grove, CA; cousin, Beverly and Mark Butz of Sugarland, TX; grandchildren, Joshua and Lindsey Stretch of Warner, OK, Jessica and Michael Hill of Moore, OK, Jenny and Brad Davis of Warner, OK, Jacob Stretch and Alaina Moore of Broken Arrow, OK, Nathan and Jaclyn Thompson of Broken Arrow, OK, Brittany and Daniel Mutai of Muskogee, OK, Amber Thompson and Gustavo Guzman of Fort Gibson, OK, Jonathan and Raine Thompson of Oklahoma City, OK, Alicia and Coleman Armes of Memphis, TN, and Amanda Ohse of Norman, OK; niece, Melanie and Mark Millsap of Norman, OK; great-grandchildren, Audrey, Elizabeth, Evan, Emma, Eva, Grace, Ethan, Abraham, Amelia, Alexander, Daniel, Jr., Demitri, Caycen, Mason, Madilyn, Lydia, Ayden, Ace and Collins; and many other family members and friends. A Rosary service will be 6PM, Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at St. Joseph Catholic Church 109 Smith St Webbers Falls, OK 74470. A celebration of Carole’s life will be 1PM, Thursday, March 31, 2022 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Muskogee with Celebrant Father Lawrence Nwachukwu. Entombment will follow at Memorial Park Mausoleum with Joshua Stretch, Jonathan Thompson, Jacob Stretch, Michael Hill, Nathan Thompson, Brad Davis, Daniel Mutai, Gustavo Guzman and Coleman Armes serving as pallbearers.
