Clyde Leo Giem

August 21, 1936 - January 31, 2022

Clyde ‘Clip’ Leo Giem, 85, of Muskogee, OK passed away on Monday, January 31, 2022. He was born on August 21, 1936 to Lawrence and Stella Giem in Wabasha, MN. He attended and graduated from St. Felix High School. He married the love of his life, Judy White on September 5, 1959 in Kellogg, MN. They shared over 60 years of love and marriage. Clip enjoyed everything outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He and Judy enjoyed traveling and going camping together. He could fix anything with his hands and was very meticulous with anything he repaired. He was a phenomenal mechanic. Anything he worked on would usually work better than it did when it was brand new. Clip served his country in the US Army for 4 years. He and Judy then moved to Muskogee, OK in 1973 where he purchased Green Country Paving. Clip remained in business for the next 20 years. He was a devoted husband to Judy and lovingly cared for her for over 40 years after she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Clip and Judy enjoyed summering in Minnesota and wintering in South Texas both where they shared many memories with numerous friends. They also enjoyed spending time with friends and family at holidays and gatherings. Clip was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Giem; parents, Lawrence and Stella Giem; brothers, Ronnie Giem and Bill Giem; sister, Elaine Passe; and son, Jerry Giem. He is survived by his sister, Sherri Dewitz of St. Paul, MN; children, John Giem and wife Patti of Grove Springs, MO, Julie Battenfield and husband Marty of Muskogee, OK, and Joe Giem and wife Tammie of Muskogee, OK; grandchildren, Ashley Lindy and husband Allan of Rogers, AR, Justin Battenfield and wife Breezy of Bixby, OK, Jared Giem and fiancé Bethany of Broken Arrow, OK, Josh Giem and wife Hope of Muskogee, OK, and Tyler Giem of Grove Springs, MO; great-grandchildren, Ella Lindy, Bennett Lindy, Tenley Battenfield, and Callaway Battenfield; numerous other family members and friends. A celebration of Clip’s life will be 10AM, Monday, February 7, 2022 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Richard Cristler officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhill Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Allan Lindy, Justin Battenfield, Josh Giem, Wayne Mitchell, Jackie Hewitt, and Jack Morgan.
