Gary Holt

Bluford “Gary” Holt, 78, of Checotah, Oklahoma, passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2022. He was born on February 23, 1944 in Phoenix, Arizona to Cecil Bluford and Jo June (Massey) Holt. Gary grew up in Porum, Oklahoma and graduated from Porum High School. After graduation, he spent most of his working life as an inspector for pipeline and fiber optic inspection companies across the United States. Gary was happiest on the farm. He has operated a dairy farm, raised race horses, and continued raising cattle through his retirement. He was a huge University of Oklahoma football fan and enjoyed drinking coffee every morning with his friends. Gary is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Jason Holt and Katie Childers of Tulsa, OK; son and fiancee, Brandon Holt and Nicole Krausert of Red Rock, OK; daughter, Kathy Holt of Warner, OK; daughter and son-in-law, Marrietta and Tommy Brooks of Dallas, TX; sisters, Betty Lindsey of Muskogee, OK and Nancy Holt of Ozark, MO; and grandsons, granddaughters, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bluford and June Holt; and brother, Dale Holt. A graveside service will be 10:00a.m., Thursday, March 24, 2022, at Field’s Cemetery in Porum, Oklahoma with nephew, Pastor Carl Miller officiating.
