Geraldine "Geri" Buchanan

December 4, 1927 - February 15, 2022

Geraldine “Geri” Alice Buchanan, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away Tuesday, February 15, 2022 with her family at her side. She was born December 4, 1927 in Ashdown, Arkansas to John and Sue (Hony) Witfield. Geri was married to Joe McDonald for 38 years and they had 7 children; Joe Jr., Barbara, Linda, Larry, Richard, Sid and David. She loved nothing more than being a mother and making a home for her family. Her family enjoyed her wonderful homecooked meals. She enjoyed spending time with her family and many cousins. Geri later married Rex Buchanan and they shared more than 16 years of life and memories together. They both shared a love for traveling, especially going to the Rose Garden in Texas. She was very happy to see some of the world. Rex passed in 1999. Besides raising her family, she took care of her granddaughter, Lisa Stephens, with whom she shared a special bond. Geri was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Kansas, Oklahoma where she loved to sing in the choir. She always enjoyed going to local nursing homes to share her love of singing. She had the voice of an angel. She also enjoyed reading her Bible. She will always be remembered for her caring heart and helping those in need. She is survived by her 7 children; 9 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren; along with many other family members. The family will receive friends from 1-5PM, Sunday, February 20, 2022 at Cornerstone Funeral Home. Geri’s life will be celebrated at 12PM, Monday, February 21, 2022 at Chapelwood Memorial Gardens in Texarkana, Texas with Chaplain Bill Crow officiating.
