James "Jim" R. Bankhead

James “Jim” R. Bankhead, 89, of Oklahoma City, OK, formerly of Muskogee, Oklahoma, passed away Wednesday, February 16, 2022. He was born September 11, 1932 in Stigler, Oklahoma to Roy and Faye Bankhead. He attended public schools and graduated from the University of Oklahoma. Jim married the love of his life, Emma Lee Melton in Tulsa, Oklahoma. They shared many years of life, marriage and memories together when she passed on October 17, 2019. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy and received an honorable discharge. He worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs and later owned his own printing business. He retired in 2009. Jim joined the First Baptist Church in Muskogee in 1976 where he faithfully attended and served until his health began to fail. He was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Lee Bankhead; parents, Roy and Faye Bankhead; sisters, Johnnie Bankhead and Frenchie Bankhead. Jim is survived by his son, Roy Bankhead and wife Amy of OKC, OK; grandsons, William and Christopher Bankhead; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. A graveside service for Jim will be at 11AM, Saturday, February 26, 2022 at Greenhill Cemetery with Chaplain Bill Crow officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Jan and Charles Vincent.
