Mary Louise (Douglass) Lusk Reynolds

September 28, 1927 - July 1, 2021

Mary “Louise” (Douglass) Lusk Reynolds, 93, passed away on July 1, 2021 in Little Rock, Arkansas. She was born on September 28, 1927 to Eldridge Parrish Douglass, Sr. and Claudia (Carvill) Douglass in Cotton Plant, Arkansas. Louise was a homemaker and worked for a brief period as a dental assistant. Louise married Jimmy Fields Lusk, and they enjoyed a long and happy life together. After Jimmy’s death Louise moved to Little Rock and married Ray Reynolds. Louise was a graduate of Brinkley High and was privileged to attend the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. She loved her country home life in Muskogee, raising her only child Robert, and spending time with the greatest love of her life, Jimmy Lusk. Louise loved gardening, riding horses, taking in stray dogs, and entertaining her friends in her home. In 1999 Louise became a grandmother for the first time, and she adored her triplet grand babies. She loved helping take care of them and spending time with family and friends. Louise LOVED to talk on the telephone! She enjoyed traveling and had a host of friends. Louise was a faithful member of several churches and was always involved in church activities. She was a long-standing member of Trinity UMC in Muskogee, and when Louise moved to Little Rock, she joined and was an active member of St. Paul UMC on Durwood Road. She was a lifetime member of P.E.O and enjoyed her involvement with this philanthropic organization. Louise loved reading the Bible and her favorite devotional book “Jesus Calling.” She had an infectious laughter, a servant’s heart and was always willing to go above and beyond to help anyone in need. Louise loved all people as God loved her. Louise was preceded in death by her parents Eldridge Parrish Douglass Sr., and Claudia Carvill Douglass; first husband, Jimmy Fields Lusk; son, Robert E. Lusk; second husband, Raymond Reynolds; sister, Martha Douglass Dorland; brother, Eldridge Parrish Douglass, Jr., nephew John Lusk, Jr.; and sister-in-law Dorothy Jean Lusk Myrick. She is survived by daughter in law, Kathy Lusk of Little Rock, AR, triplet grandchildren, Kate Lusk and Jimmy Lusk of Little Rock AR, Martha Lusk of Englewood, FL, and great-granddaughters, Elliott and Magnolia McGarrett of Englewood, FL. She is also survived by brother in Law John Lusk, Sr. (Becki) of El Dorado, AR and sister-in-law, Sara Douglass of Dallas, TX, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren of Texas. Louise is survived by nieces Mici Lusk Ryberg (David), children of California; Linda Lusk Heironimus (Dan), children and grandchildren of Missouri, and Mary Lou Lusk of Texas; and Philip Lusk, children and grandchildren of AR. Louise is survived by niece Margaret Dorland, children and grandchildren of Arkansas and Texas; Kenneth Dorland (Mary), children and grandchildren of TX, and Doug Dorland (Shirleen), children of Oklahoma. Louise is also survived by David Myrick (Annette), children and grandchildren; Nancy Maines, children and grandchildren; Diane Burcke (Gary), and Mary Jane Chupp (Dennis), children and grandchildren, all of Texas. Louise is also survived by stepchildren, Roger Reynolds (Lisa), step granddaughter Celeste Gladden and step great grandson Jase Gladden of Arkansas; Ramona Rook (Alec), step granddaughter Lindsey Gerdes (Nick) and step great grandson Kaleb Gerdes of Kansas; and Ricky Reynolds (Diana) of Little Rock, AR. She is also survived by a host of other family members and friends who adored and cherished their “Sister in friendship” and their “Aunt Louise.” Graveside service only will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at Fort Gibson National Cemetery, 1423 Cemetery Road, Fort Gibson, OK 74434, where she will be laid to rest with her first husband, Jimmy Lusk. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the St. Paul United Methodist Church, 2223 Durwood Road, Little Rock, AR 72207, or the Boy Scouts of America, Troop 30, 2223 Durwood Road, Little Rock, AR 72207. A celebration of Louise’s life will also be held in Little Rock, AR at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 2223 Durwood Road, Little Rock, AR 72207, on Saturday August 14, 2021 at 1:00 p.m.
