Samuel Everett McDuffey Jr
October 16, 1949 - April 20, 2022
Samuel Everett McDuffey Jr., was a devoted husband, father, and Papa who was always quick with a joke. He left this world behind him on April 20, 2022, at the age of 72, surrounded by the family he loved so dearly. Sam, a life-long Okie from Muskogee, was born to Evelyn Sunshine and Samuel McDuffey on October 16, 1949, the youngest of 9 siblings. He always said his mom stopped having children after him because she finally got her pretty baby. Ever a proud patriot, he ventured off to serve in the Navy during the Vietnam war. When he returned from service, he met his beloved Pamela Rose at a dance. His blue eyes and dark mustache were enough to steal her heart, and the two married on March 15, 1974. Together they raised a daughter, Kristy McDuffey (Finney), and lived a life full of joy, love, and bologna sandwiches. Sam earned an associate degree in chemistry, and worked as a chemist for over two decades at Sintertec Inc. before he retired. Sam was a kind, selfless, and jovial soul, with a belly laugh that could lift any spirit. He loved time with his family, and vacations to Branson, MO. He spent his free time raising his flock of chickens, affectionately referred to as his Golden Girls, and caring for his dogs. His presence in this world will be greatly missed. Sam is preceded in death by his parents Evelyn and Samuel; sisters, Koleta Holsey, Rilda “Pat” Williams, Katherine Corbell and Ione Brown; brothers, Robert “Nikki” Murray, Everett “Beaver” Murray and William “Bill” Murray. Sam is survived by his loving wife, Pamela McDuffey; brother, Aubert Murray; daughter, Kristy Finney and son-in-law Shon Finney; granddaughters, Emily Finney-Miller and husband Isaac, and Samantha Deaver and husband Kyle; and great-grandson, Andrew Deaver. Sam’s life will be honored and celebrated at Cornerstone Funeral Home on Monday, April 25 at 10:30 AM. Visitation will be held at Cornerstone Funeral Home on Sunday, April 24 from 1-5 PM. Funeral services are under the direction of Cornerstone Funeral Home at 1830 N York St Muskogee, OK 74403. Condolences can be made to the family at www.cornerstoneofmuskogee.com.
