Steven “Trent” Scoggins, age 49, died Sunday, December 12, 2021. He was born February 2, 1972 in Muskogee, OK to Bobby Lee and Gayle Scoggins. Trent attended St. Joseph Catholic School and graduated from Muskogee High School in 1991. He met Rhonda Rose, the love of his life in August of 2017 and they were married on April 20, 2018. He acquired three sons, Jacob, Jonah, and Oliver when they married. Trent was active in Scouts, soccer, BMX racing, and wrestling. He was introduced to music early in life when he learned to play the recorder and flutophone while attending St. Joseph Catholic School. He developed a passion for music after playing alto saxophone in his junior high years and the bass during his high school years. After high school he worked as a helper in his dad’s welding business and worked as an actor and a boom mic operator on a movie set in Dallas in 1992. Trent’s passion was writing music and played in several bands. For the last couple of years, he recorded and released dozens of his own songs. Trent also recorded for other artists. He composed and engineered the soundtrack for the film “Angela”. In addition, he owned and operated Donkey Mountain Studio and released his own music under the name Swollen Lord. He is survived by his wife, Rhonda and three sons, Jacob, Jonah, and Oliver of the home, his mother Gayle Miller and stepfather Bill Miller of Muskogee, brother Dana Scoggins of Austin, TX, step-sister Suzy Chapple and husband James of Broken Arrow, step-brother Mike Miller, mother-in-law Dianne Rose of Muskogee, sister-in-law Candee Haugland and husband Georg of Muskogee and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Scoggins, paternal grandparents, James and Ruth Scoggins, maternal grandparents, Earl and Lucille Moore, and his friend and bandmate, Darrell Epps. Pallbearers are Brian Morgan, Norman Fisher, Georg Haugland, and Larry Huitt. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Monday, December 20th at 10:00 AM with Father Rob Dye celebrant. Interment will follow at Greenhill Cemetery.
