Alfred Earl Sutton

Alfred "Al" Earl Sutton, 71 of Muskogee, passed away Friday afternoon, January 16, 2015, surrounded by his family. “Al”, as his family and close friends like to call him by, was born February 13, 1943 to George A. and Ruhie May (Nolan) Sutton in Urbana, MO. He grew up and attended schools in Missouri and finished his education. After high school, Al met and married the love of his life, Retha Rena Lister on May 4, 1968, in Ava, Missouri. They shared over 46 years of marriage together. By trade, Al was a Truck Driver. He drove for several companies including Sunoco, DX, and Affiliated Foods. His career spanned over 4 decades before his retirement in 2009 from Fanelli Brothers Trucking Company. Al’s hobbies included hunting, fishing, gardening, raising chickens, listening to music and working on cars. His family recalls his favorite hobby was spending time with his children and grandchildren. He made family his first priority in his life. He is preceded in death by his parents; his son-in-law, William Black; his sisters, Ruby Duncan, Alice Sutton, Jenny Briggs; his brother, Edward Sutton; and his half-sister, Mickey Rivera. Al is survived by his wife, Retha of the home; his daughters, Tracy Black and Vickie Brewer and her husband, Todd, all of Muskogee; his sons, Joe Sutton of Lathrop, MO, Russell Sutton and his wife, Michelle of Muskogee; his grandchildren, Anthony Black, Christopher Black, Jack Black and Tanis Brewer all of Muskogee, Taylor Wagner, Justus Wagner-Livesay and Tyler Livesay all of Lathrop, MO, Jacob Sutton and Zachary Sutton both of Arkansas, Ryan Brewer and Ian Brewer both of Kemp, TX; his great grandchildren, Gracie Herrera and Olivia Herrera both of Lathrop, MO; his sister, Ada Moore of Monett, MO, Ida Brockert of Monett, MO; his brother, Melvin Sutton of Springfield, MO; numerous other family members and friends. Funeral services celebrating Al’s life will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 23, 2015 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Chuck Myers officiating with Bro. Chester Capps serving as Honorary Minister. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Anthony Black, Christopher Black, Jack Black, T. R. Ingerson, Eugene Moore and Andy Sutton.
