Bonnie L. Boyer

Bonnie Lue Boyer was born February 19th, 1944, in Sharpe County, Arkansas to Tom and Bessie Boyer. It was only fitting that she was called home on Sunday morning, March 16th, 2025, stepping through the pearly gates to the most beautiful church service she’d ever attended. Bonnie graduated from Wainwright High School in 1961. She was a beloved and committed mother to two daughters, Dana Sue and Dena Lynn. Throughout her life she was dedicated to them and their activities, from showing hogs to making wedding dresses. She was also an avid fan of her girls’ basketball teams during grade school and high school. Bonnie was a devoted 4-H leader, becoming a second mom to many 4-H members. Later in life, she became “Granny Bonnie” to all who knew and loved her. Bonnie followed many career interests, including cosmetology, tax preparation, office manager, and cake decorating, but she spent much of her adult life working alongside her longtime friend, JoAnn Ogden, as an insurance agent. She retired in 2006 to spend more time with her family, especially her grandkids. She thought retirement would mean slowing down, but in 2012 she became a great grandma and soon thereafter added 8 more great grandchildren to chase and was anticipating one more in June 2025. Recently, she spent time volunteering at the Wainwright Community Center. Bonnie was also an active and faithful member of Wainwright First Baptist Church, where you would find her teaching Sunday School, making crafts at VBS, cooking at church camp, and serving at every event in between. For many years, the highlight of her summer was mission trips to Mexico, especially when her grandkids were able to go along. Bonnie was a formidable force, often described as sassy and stubborn, but most of all, she loved her family fiercely and was committed to making sure they knew Jesus. Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, Tomie Jewel and Bessie Gertrude Maxwell Boyer; sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and JD Voyles; brothers, Donald Boyer, Ralph Boyer, and Randal Boyer; and brother-in-law, James Sisk. Bonnie is survived by her sister, Janna Sue Sisk of Lafayette, LA; sisters-in-law, Jean Daniels of Muskogee and Jo Kaiser of Haskell; daughters, Dana Brown and husband Chris of Oktaha and Dena Zapata of Wainwright; granddaughters, Sarah Bible and husband Jesse of Oktaha and Kathryn Yarbrough and husband Blake of Keefeton; grandsons, Conner Brown and wife Kalah of Oktaha and Kyle Brown of Oktaha; great grandchildren, Deklan, Liam, and Turner Bible, Hunter Ford, Makyra Poorman, Emrie and Claire Brown, and Savana, Kamryn and Knox Yarbrough; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; and a loving church family and numerous friends. The family will greet friends from 5-7 PM, Thursday, March 20, 2025 at Cornerstone Funeral Home. Bonnie’s life will be celebrated on Friday, March 21st, 2025, at Wainwright First Baptist Church with Pastor Jesse Bible officiating. Interment will follow at Middleton Chapel Cemetery in Oktaha. Pallbearers will be Conner Brown, Blake Yarbrough, Hunter Ford, Kyle Brown, Robin Boyer, and Steve Ledford. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Voyles, Brian Sisk, AJ Alwert, Mike Boyer, Chris Brown, Donnie Hart, and Harold Conrad.
