Burnard Eugene Moore Jr.

Burnard (Benny) Moore Jr. was born August 9, 1946 in Muskogee Oklahoma to Burnard and Billye (Rae) Moore. He was the first of three children to bless this family. He passed from this life to heaven's gates on September 23, after many years of illnesses. His going home celebration is scheduled for Thursday September 29, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Westside Church of Christ with Mr. Leon Brashears. Benny's parents loved God and believed they should raise their children to love God, so they would always go to worship as a family. The first memory of worshiping God for Benny was the C Street Church of Christ, which would later be moved to the Eastside Church of Christ. Benny remained faithful to the Jesus Christ our Lord and became a gospel preacher and minister in 1978. During this time he graduated from the Owasso School of Biblical Studies. During his tenure he preached as a full time minister for Braggs Church of Christ, part-time minister at Eastside Church of Christ and also preached many gospel meetings and lectureships around the region until his health failed to the point he couldn't. Even up to his recent illness he was a rock for the Eastside Church of Christ holding meetings in his home with members because he could not get out. Benny was educated in Muskogee at the Central High School (1964). He enlisted in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. However due to his father's death and being the oldest child, he was not allowed to serve and was honorably discharged after basic training. His hobbies included fishing, playing the guitar, Texas Rangers Baseball, and OU Sooner football. After leaving the Navy, Benny was trained to be a barber however, being a barber he realized he could not raise a family. So in 1970 he began working at Brockway Glass until his retirement 37 years later. In 1964 Benny met and married Dorothy (McDowell) Moore. To this family they were blessed with two children named Edward (Eddie) Moore and Angela (Angie) Moore. He happily received three step children Jacquie (Armstrong) Rollins, James (J.R.), and Kenny Armstrong. Many years later (1995) he married Rebecca (Becky Temple) Moore where he welcomed step daughter Mandy (Temple) Robertson. Benny was preceded in death by his parents, Burnard and Billye, brother, Doug Moore, and step-son, J.R. Armstrong. Those he leaves to cherish his memories are his wife of the home Becky Moore; son, Eddie and wife Lisa Moore of Muskogee; daughter, Angie and husband Rory Montgomery of Fort Gibson; step-daughter, Jacquie and husband Gail Rollins of Broken Bow, OK; step-son, Kenny and Teresa Armstrong of Yates Center, KS; step-daughter, Mandy and husband Kenny Robertson of Oologah, OK; brother, Mark Moore; grandchildren, Edward (Eddie) Moore JR and wife Kristi, Benjamin (Ben) Moore, Lauren Moore, Kelsey Brewer, Hayden Robertson, and Carson Robertson; and great-granddaughter, Alyx Moore. In addition he had numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
