Curtis D. Jackson

Curtis David (“Cletus, Love Bug or Papa”) Jackson, 72, of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed from our lives on January 21, 2023. He was the son of Gale Leon Jackson and Bonnie Rae Jackson, born on March 14, 1950 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. He attended Muskogee schools until he graduated from Muskogee Central High School on May 30, 1968 and from there he left for Northeastern State College. Curtis worked for Muskogee Seed Co. and Anderson Wholesale. On January 1, 1974 he joined the Muskogee Fire Department which spanned a career of 30 years retiring as Assistant Chief on January 1, 2004. He was liked and respected by all. He also subcontracted carpet installations and later started Jackson Siding Company. Curtis married Linda Alvarez on April 24, 1978. Joining the marriage was son Tony and daughter Tracie Alvarez. In February 1982 another daughter Mindy Ann was born and completed the family. They were married for 45 years until his death. Curt was a good provider, great dad, grandpa, great-grandpa, faithful brother and son. He was always there to help when someone needed it. He never complained too long when Linda had a “to do list” for him to accomplish. He always started the day with a smile and a good attitude. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gale Leon Jackson and Bonnie Rae Jackson; grandparents, Orvile and Ocie Satterfield and Alfred and Mamie Jackson. Curtis is survived by his wife, Linda of the home; children, daughters, Mindy McFarland and husband Michael of Fort Gibson, Tracie Smith and partner Bud Thomas of Porum; son, Tony Alvarez and wife Nikkie of Porum; brothers, Terry Jackson of Muskogee, Wesley Jackson and Colleen Bowman of Paris, AR; grandsons, Tyler McFarland and wife Emily of Warner, Hayden Smith and Brettonie Foster of Porum, Bryce Smith of Muskogee, Landen Smith of Porum, Dexter Alvarez of Muskogee, Cody Alvarez of Porum; granddaughters, Kelci McFarland, Harley McFarland and Joslyn McFarland, all of Fort Gibson; great-grandsons, Tatum McFarland of Warner, Dayton Alvarez and Dayson Alvarez, both of Muskogee; great-granddaughters, Piper Smith of Muskogee and Emery Hughey of Warner; sister-in-law, Liz McDonald and husband John of North Richland Hills, TX; extended family daughters, Stacy Holcomb of Tahlequah, Shawna Stevens of Muskogee, and April Kosterlistzky of Tulsa; son, Don Gullet and wife Ame of Muskogee; special family friends, the late Jerry Youngblood and wife Kellie, Blake Bailey, Patsy Clinkenbeard, Janet Buckmaster and the Muskogee Firefighters Local 57. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Curtis’ name to the Muskogee Firefighters Local 57, PO Box 2652, Muskogee, OK, 74402-2652. Private family services conducted at a later date.
