Floretta L. Leatherman

Floretta LaViena (Reheard) Leatherman, a lifetime resident of Muskogee, Oklahoma, passed on Saturday, May 23, 2020 at the age of 80. She was born August 31, 1939 at the Baptist Hospital in Muskogee to Billy Z. and Virginia (Allen) Reheard. Floretta married the love of her life and best friend, Robert Lloyd “Bob” Leatherman on March 25, 1955, at the home of Rev. Shoemacher in Stigler, Oklahoma. They shared more than 46 years of life, marriage, and memories. She was the owner of Floretta Leatherman Real Estate and Tax Services along with her husband Bob, who owned and operated Bob’s Office Machines. Floretta was actively involved and supported many community activities. She made angel food cakes for Muskogee FFA pie auctions for 50+ years and was inducted as a Muskogee FFA honorary member in 2000. She was an active member of local and national VFW ladies auxiliaries, the Rebecca’s, served on the election board, Muskogee County PARB board, a member of Eastern Oklahoma Woodcarvers Association, and the Muskogee Genealogical Society. She also played an active role, for over 30 years, at Memorial Day services held at cemeteries. Floretta was a member of Meadowbrook Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bob; and daughter, Jeanetta Lynn Leatherman Lane. Floretta is survived by her children, Michael Lloyd Leatherman, Jason Lance Leatherman and wife Christie; son-in-law, Johnny Ralph Lane, all of Muskogee; grandchildren, Kena Danielle Lafave and husband Robert, Jeremy Scott Lane and wife Sarah, Whittney Karlese Briley Leatherman, Dustin Skylar Leatherman, Miranda Cole Leatherman-Detty and wife Tiffany, Dylan Garrett Durossette, Blaise Lance Leatherman and Savanna Nicole Lane; great-grandchildren, Tyler Roy Lafave, Rylen Alexis Lafave, Landon River Lafave, Connor Donahue, Ember Dawn Lane, Kolten Graham Leatherman, and Kenzington Mae Leatherman; siblings, Belinda Sue Hall-Garrett of Oktaha and Billy Jerome Reheard of Muskogee; brothers-in-law, Dan Leatherman and wife Cheryl, Walter Lee Leatherman and wife Linda, all of Muskogee; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family and special friends. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 28, 2020 from 5-7:30 p.m. at Cornerstone Funeral Home. Funeral services celebrating Floretta’s life will be 11AM, Friday, May 29, 2020 at Mountain View Baptist Church with Chaplain Bill Crow officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery with Robert Lafave, Tyler Lafave, Dylan Durossette, Connor Donahue, Blaise Leatherman, Jeremy Lane, and Dustin Leatherman serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be John R. Lane, William Wolfe, Jason Leatherman, Michael Leatherman, Billy J. Reheard, Dan Leatherman, Larry Leatherman, Justin Hall, Josh Hall, Landon Lafave and Shawn Reheard.
