J.C. Smith

J.C. Smith, 85, of Boynton, Oklahoma passed on Tuesday, December 3, 2019. He was born on April 12, 1934 to Cebe Smith and Delia (Johns) Smith in Boynton, Oklahoma. On June 6, 1953 he married the love of his life Norma Louise Williams Smith in Van Buren, Arkansas. J.C. worked in construction, mostly in Tulsa and surrounding areas, but his work caused him to move to many different places. He lived in Colorado, California, Montana, and Wyoming in his earlier years. His favorite hobbies were “Piddlin”, moving junk from one place to another, collecting hubcaps, spending time with his family, being outside, driving dirt roads, and playing dominoes, but most of all winning at dominoes as he did not like to lose. J.C. is preceded in death by his wife, Norma Louise Williams Smith; daughter, Patricia Atwell; father, Cebe Smith; mother, Delia Smith; brothers, Leo, Cleo, Carl, and Howard; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Byron “Rooster” and Hazel Williams. He is survived by his sons, David Smith and Barbara of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Danny Smith and Brenda of Boynton, Oklahoma; daughter Connie Smith and special granddaughter Makenna Smith of Muskogee, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Shane Atwell of Boynton, Oklahoma, David Smith and Alicia of Warner, Oklahoma, Shanna Cheatham and Jason of Haskell, Oklahoma, Jeremy Smith and Anna of Okmulgee, Oklahoma, Angela Lang and Eric of Owasso, Oklahoma, Brianne Smith and Jack of Claremore, Oklahoma, Laci Smith and Chris of Welling, Oklahoma, Jordan Smith and Dustin of Boynton, Oklahoma, Kim Smith of Mounds, Oklahoma, Daniel Smith and Jennie of Boynton, Oklahoma; great-grandsons, Tanner Robinson and Christopher Robinson of Bixby, Oklahoma, they spent a lot of their childhood around Pa, as they called him, along with 26 more great-grandchildren; sisters, Naomi Mayo of Muskogee, Oklahoma, and Francis Edwards and Dennis of Claremore, Oklahoma; sister-in-law, Joann Cobb and Monroe of Haskell, Oklahoma; brothers-in-law Paul Williams of Tulsa, Oklahoma, James Williams and Andrea of Haskell, Oklahoma; special cousin Corene Curtis, and numerous other nieces, nephews, and cousins. A celebration of J.C.’s life will be 10:00am Monday, December 9, 2019 at Boynton Assembly of God with Brother Dean Moore and David Smith of officiating. Interment will follow at Haskell City Cemetery with grandsons, David Smith, Jeremy Smith, Shane Atwell, Daniel Smith, Tanner Robinson, and Christopher Robinson serving as Pallbearers.
