James Hallum

James Monroe Hallum, 66, of Tahlequah, Oklahoma passed away Saturday, November 2, 2013 at his home. He was born June 24, 1947 in Porter, Oklahoma to John Jay Hallum Sr. and Maurine Yochum Hallum. James grew up in Coweta where he attended school. He was a government certified welder and worked for Muskogee Metal Fab retiring in 2009. James was known by many as “Mountain Man”, a CB handle he had for many years. His hobbies included playing music, hunting, fishing, camping, and spending time outdoors. Most important to him was spending time with his family and friends. James married the love of his life, Georgie Ann Deringer, on July 26, 1980 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his father, John Jay Hallum Sr.; his mother, Maurine Hallum Ammons; and his brother, John Jay Hallum Jr. James is survived by his wife, Georgie, of the home; daughters, Jamie Siddons and husband, Bill of Hillsborough, TX; Pam Bottrell and Paul Trapp of Tahlequah, Kristy Hall and husband, Jon of Wagoner, Shelly Barr and husband, David of Vinita, OK; sons, James Monroe Hallum Jr. of Rancho Santa Margarita, CA, Mike Cates and wife, Joscelyn of Tahlequah; grandchildren, Shelby Siddons of Hillsborough, TX; Kaitlyn Maxwell and husband, Kevin of Round Rock, TX, Michael Cates and DeAndra Hayes of Hulbert, OK, Justin Cates of Tahlequah, Allison Howser and husband, Nathan of Ft. Scott, KS, Tyler Adams and Kassey Wray of Tahlequah, Nichole Adams of Tahlequah, Brittnie Grimes, Natalee Grimes, Alexis Hall, all of Wagoner, Skylar Barr, Devin Barr, Angel Barr, all of Vinita; great grandchildren, Kassidy Maxwell of Round Rock,TX, Jazmyn Adams of Tahlequah; and other family members and friends. The family will receive friends from 5:30pm-7:30pm, Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at Cornerstone Funeral Home. Funeral services for James will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 7, 2013 at Crescent Valley Baptist Church, 25641 S Crescent Valley Rd., Tahlequah with Rev. Chadd Pendergraft and Chaplain D. J. McCarter officiating. Interment will follow at Citizens Cemetery with Michael J. Cates, Justin Cates, Tyler Adams, Bill Satterfield, Jim Cassidy, and Mike Smith serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Sherbourne, Randy Sherbourne, Donald Mayo, Ray Deringer, and Mike Windler.
