James "Allen" Sallee

James “Allen” Sallee, 72, a lifetime resident of the community of Elm Grove, passed away Tuesday, November 24, 2020. He was born May 8, 1948 to Eugene William and Opal Mae (Webb) Sallee. He attended Elm Grove School until the 8th grade and then continued his education at Oktaha Public School where he graduated in 1966. Allen worked for Acme Engineering and retired on May 1, 2013 after more than 45 years of service. His retirement meant he could spend as much as time as he wanted going fishing. If his truck was gone from his home, day or night, that meant he was probably in a boat on the water or casting from the river bank. Family was everything to Allen. Being one of 10 children, there were always lots of family gatherings along with many Sunday afternoon lunches at Granny’s house. Allen and his brothers gathered around the “homemade” grill to fix bbq chicken and share stories. Allen will always be remembered as a simple and quiet man, a good man, and a man ready to meet his maker. His passing will leave a void that only he could fill. He knew he was loved and will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Opal Sallee; his siblings, Bud Sallee, Sue Brock and husband Leon, Martha Denison, Claude Sallee and wife, Rita, and Raymond Sallee; sister, Georgia Anderson and husband, Jack. Allen is survived by his brothers, Virgil Sallee and wife Linda, Bill Sallee and wife Fern, all of Elm Grove, Paul Glenn Sallee and wife Diane; sisters-in-law, Maurine Flood and husband Bob, and Joyce Sallee all of Muskogee; brother-in-law, Bob Denison of Washington, special niece and nephew, Misty Pickard and husband Jay and their children, Nikki and Justan, and Jackie Sallee; along with many other nieces and nephews, great nieces, great nephews, lots of other family members and many special friends. A graveside service celebrating Allen’s life will be 1PM, Friday, November 27, 2020 at Elm Grove Cemetery with Pastor Steve Hughes officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be all of his nephews, special friends, Steve Blankenship and Bob Lewis, along with all the members of “Davis Field Coffee Club”.
