Jimmy Lee Yandell

Jimmy Lee Yandell passed away peacefully at his home in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at the age of 69, surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 24, 1954 in Muskogee, Oklahoma to Clint and Mary (Owens) Yandell. In August 2008, he found the love of his life, Nancy Thompson and they had 15 wonderful, loving, happy years together. Jim was an avid hunter and professional bass fisherman, winning many fishing tournaments. He retired from Georgia Pacific after 20 years of service and started enjoying retirement with Nancy, going fishing, having at one time, his own air conditioning business, an instructor at vo-tech and was an exceptional golfer. He made his own bows and arrows and custom rods. There wasn’t anything that he could not do and did everything well. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Clint and Mary Yandell; his sister and brother-in-law, Kathy and Danny Cook. He is survived by his wife, Nancy of the home; two sons, Mark Yandell and wife Kristina of Wilmington, NC, and Chase Thompson of Tulsa, OK; his sister, Bonnie Rogers and husband Gary of Muskogee, OK; brother, Danny Ray Yandell and wife Angel of 29 Palms, CA; his grandchildren, Avery and Jackson Yandell of Wilmington, NC; nephews, Chris Rogers and wife Denise of Fort Gibson, OK, Danny Cook and wife Shawn of Vian, OK, Jeremy Yandell and wife Amanda and their son Jonas of Los Angeles, CA; niece, Erin Yandell of St. Louis, MO; sisters-in-law, Sarah Cochran and husband Tom, Phyllis Elkins, all of Sapulpa, OK, Donna Tackett, Mary Ashwood and husband Joe, all of Muskogee, OK; his fishing partner, Steve Core; along with numerous other family members and loved ones. The family will receive friends from 6-8PM, Monday, August 14, 2023 at Cornerstone Funeral Home. Jim’s life will be celebrated at 10AM, Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at Southeast Baptist Church with Mr. Randy Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at Citizens Cemetery in Fort Gibson with Kevin Thornbrugh, Robert Capps, Steve Core, Tim Haddick, Mike Ketcher, and Edwin Evers serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Buckmaster, Roy Perry, Jim Green, Bill Green, Blake Capps, Jake Capps, Tom Cochran, Dino Goode, Rick Patterson, Tom Kimbrell, Shane Berry and Stephen Little.
